Which 2022 anime have stayed with people the most? If you're looking to catch up with this year's most hyped titles, we've listed the most popular anime of 2022 (so far), according to fans!

2022 has been an exciting year for anime, with both new and returning titles in a variety of genres.

Of course, shonen anime are on the frontline, but if you would rather watch more mature seinen anime or look to spice things up with some mystery and/or romance, there are several titles available for you.

  1. Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2

The latest season of Attack on Titan is one of the highest-ranking anime on MyAnimeList right now, with an impressive 8.80/10 score.

The action anime has come a long way from its early days when it followed a well-trodden path with a heroic cast of main characters trying to defend humanity against impossible odds.

It's not every day that the main character who seemed like a typical shonen protagonist ends up being the opponent his former friends and allies must defeat.

Eren's character arc is as intriguing as it's frustrating, making for a strong anime that will likely remain popular for a long time.

  2. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District arc might, in many ways, be a typical shonen anime, but it's proven itself to be really good at what it does.

Following the devastation of the Mugen Train incident, the most recent Demon Slayer arc picks up the equivalent manga arc where a demon is terrorizing the women of the titular Yoshiwara Entertainment District.

With an impressive quality of animation and action sequences, Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc remains one of the most popular shows on MyAnimeList several months after its original run, proving that it's here to stay.

  3. My Dress-Up Darling

My Dress-Up Darling is rather divisive as some viewers were left unimpressed by it, while others think it's among the best anime by studio CloverWorks with its fun premise and nice art style.

When the show first aired in Winter 2022, fans fell in love with Wakana Gojo, a doll craftsman who is quite insecure about his craft, and Marin Kitagawa, an aspiring cosplayer who can't sew to save her life.

The two of them end up collaborating with heart-warming effects!

  4. Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 3

While Kaguya-sama: Love Is War (also on this list) is the go-to slow-burn romance, it isn't the only one.

If you prefer something a little more childish and innocent, Teasing Master Takagi-san aired for the third time as part of the Winter 2022 anime season.

Fans love the cute and awkward budding romance between seatmates Takagi and Nishikata.

The former has teased the latter endlessly for three seasons, but Season 3 marked a shift, making this more of a school romance than ever before.

For those who want more, a Teasing Master Takagi-san movie soon followed, letting the hype for the anime last a bit longer.

  5. Spy x Family

Spy x Family took residence in fans' hearts during the Spring 2022 season, with its second cour in Fall 2022 successfully re-igniting the hype!

Loid Forger, a spy dealing with difficult tasks, creates a forged family around himself to get into the inner circle of his target.

To successfully spy on a reclusive person who happens to be a parent, Loid adopted Anya, a little orphan girl, and married a woman named Yor.

Unbeknownst to Loid, Yor is an assassin who is oblivious to Loid's true identity.

Moreover, unbeknownst to both of them, their newly adopted daughter is a mind reader who knows the truth but doesn't reveal anything for fear of losing her new family.

This adorable and hilarious concept has really grown on fans who can't wait for more!

  6. Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Season 3: Ultra Romantic

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War has always been an exciting anime, but there is something special about Season 3.

Not only did many characters escape their mold and developed quite a bit, but those who follow the Kaguya-sama: Love Is War manga also know that this is where Kaguya and Miyuki end up together (finally!).

The double finale where the two leads finally confess was a real hit, to the point that the show temporarily dethroned Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, much to the ire of the fantasy anime's devoted fans.

As of September 2022, Brotherhood is once again ranking first, but Kaguya-sama is still second on MyAnimeList, which is no small feat!

  7. Tomodachi Game

Tomodachi Game might not be a big-name show like others on this list, but it captured fans' attention, especially during its latter half, due to its mystery.

The suspense anime follows an unusual group of friends who find themselves in a predicament known as Tomodachi Game.

Starting with a debt of 20 million yen, each player is given 4 million yen to manage.

Their goal is to erase their debt in order to escape. But who is the traitor who got them in that situation in the first place?

As the anime becomes more and more suspenseful toward its climax, friendships will be tested, and betrayal is almost inevitable.

  8. Overlord Season 4

Many anime don't get a second season let alone four, so Overlord is quite something for isekai anime fans.

The fourth season of the fantasy anime focuses on Ainz Ooal Gown's declining kingdom as he tries to gain resources for his territories.

As per typical isekai fashion, the show follows Ainz Ooal Gown, formerly known as Momonga, who got trapped in the online game Yggdrasil and transformed into a skeletal wizard.

  9. Made in Abyss Season 4

With cute art and an occasionally sad storyline, Made in Abyss Season 4 was an interesting addition to the rather quiet Summer 2022 anime season.

Once more, the show followed Reg, Nanachi, and Riko as they explore a new locality where they will presumably find the ruins of the promised Golden City.

  10. Lycoris Recoil

Once again, Lycoris Recoil wasn't the biggest among the Summer 2022 anime titles, but it was an interesting addition to an otherwise quiet season.

The anime unfolds in the titular LycoReco, a Japanese-Western hybrid café in downtown Tokyo where the female main characters work, hiding the fact that they're trained assassins!

Unbeknownst to the customers, the Café LycoReco staff and the organization behind them are the reason they live in peace.

Lycoris Recoil was an interesting project with a nice premise that kept fans company during the summer months.

  11. Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw Man, undoubtedly one of Fall 2022's biggest hits, couldn't be missing from this list.

The adaptation has been much-awaited even before the anime was announced.

For all the gore and action sequences, many agree that the self-conscious humor and the combination of body horror and psychological horror work really well in the various Chainsaw Man arcs, making this more unique than it initially sounds.

Add a loveable cast of characters and violent plot twists, and many will definitely expect this to be one of the best anime by studio MAPPA yet.

  12. Mob Psycho 100 III

Fall 2022 is the time for studio Bones to shine, as not only My Hero Academia but also Mob Psycho is airing a new season.

Season 3 finds Shigeo Kageyama, also known as Mob, at a difficult phase in his life.

Not only is he dealing with the aftermath of the cult he accidentally inspired into being, but he also has major life decisions to make.

Who does he want to be, and what path will he pursue in life? Thankfully, his mentor, Arataka Reigen, and his friends are nearby to help!

  13. My Hero Academia Season 6

If you're looking for a shonen anime on Crunchyroll, look no further.

My Hero Academia Season 6 will be adapting the manga's Paranormal Liberation War arc.

This time, Deku and his fellow heroes are fighting against the Paranormal Liberation Front led by Tomura Shigaraki; the grandson of All Might’s mentor, Nana Shimura, and the villainous apprentice of All Might’s nemesis, All For One.

  14. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War

Bleach doesn't need an introduction as a lot of fans grew up with it.

For those fans, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is a most interesting and exciting development.

The last season of the anime series will adapt the final arc of the Bleach manga.

The finale known as the Thousand-Year Blood War arc spans 200 chapters, so fans expect it to be huge!

  15. Bocchi the Rock!

Bocchi the Rock! was one of the Fall 2022 titles that unexpectedly rose to prominence, becoming one of the best anime by studio CloverWorks and of the season.

The music anime's premise is simple, and it follows a lonely girl who longs to be a guitarist and finally gets to join a girl band that is formed by her schoolmates.

  16. Komi Can't Communicate Season 2

While not as prominent as some other anime sequels, Komi Can't Communicate Season 2 had its fair share of fans.

The slice-of-life anime follows a regular high school student named Tadano who finds out that his classmate Komi, who is pretty and seemingly popular, suffers from social anxiety, which prevents her from enjoying her school life.

  17. Ranking of Kings

With a different style than most anime and an extraordinarily sweet protagonist, Ranking of Kings might not seem like an anime hit at first.

However, Ranking of Kings has managed to capture the hearts of many fans.

Its story centers around Bojji, a young prince who communicates through sign language and lacks physical strength. Despite that, he tries to become the best possible king.

As such, the anime definitely deserves a place on this list, as fans still remember it fondly.
