All Attack on Titan Arcs, Ranked

  1. 104th Training Corps Arc/Humanity’s Comeback Arc

Although not much has transpired in the 104th Training Corps arc, we have seen Eren, Mikasa, and Armin go through military training to join the Survey Corps.

Sasha Blouse, Jean Kirstein, Historia Reiss, and Connie Springer, to name a few of our cherished and beloved characters, have also been introduced.

It also demonstrated the hardships of becoming a skilled soldier as well as the motivations of the characters, such as Jean Kirstein.

Overall, we enjoyed the character interactions, Sasha's humorous moments, and, of course, Annie and Eren's hand-to-hand combat training with Reiner, which will forever be etched in our minds!

  2. The Fall of Shiganshina Arc/The Prologue Arc

This is one of the most crucial story arcs in Attack on Titan. It not only captivated readers and viewers, but also introduced the series' primary characters, such as Eren, Mikasa, and Armin.

Even though it only lasted two chapters or two episodes, it was an extremely strong and powerful plot arc. It was a traumatic story arc for Eren and the others, as they lost loved ones to the Titans' cruelty.

Additionally, it has a really ominous atmosphere, and we are certain that something horrible was going to happen from the start.

The mysteries of the titans, particularly the Colossal Titan and the Smiling Titan, who inflict havoc on humanity, are revealed.

Remember how exciting the first episode was and how much we wanted Hannes to save Eren's mother?

  3. The Struggle for Trost Arc/Battle of Trost District Arc

There were several exciting moments in the Battle of Trost District arc that kept us on the edge of our seats.

In truth, we all assumed Eren was dead, and Armin will be the show's main character, at least for a while!

Given how horrible the deaths of the other characters had been, we all assumed Eren would not survive. But then Eren triggered his titan powers, and everyone was overjoyed to witness him in action, butt naked!

There's also Mikasa's suicidal moment when she was about to be trampled by a titan! It was annoying for some, but it's still very iconic.

Furthermore, Jean's character development was uplifting, as he realized how much more needed he was in the Survey Corps than in the Military Police.

  4. The Female Titan Arc/ Eve of the Counterattack Arc/The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission Arc/Assault on Stohess Arc

This is the main arc of Attack on Titan Season 1, which had a lot of tension, and intense fight scenes, and was overall an emotional roller coaster ride.

We all worried for the lives of our favorite characters, and we also lost some of them, particularly Levi's squad.

Their deaths were so awful and sad that they continue to haunt us to this day. It's a sight we don't want to see again, and we want the same for the other characters.

Furthermore, the Female Titan arc is both mysterious and terrifying, even though we all knew who the female titan was in the end.

I mean, we all know that Annie is the female titan at the very beginning of the arc due to their similar features.

Despite this, Annie had some of her best moments in the Female Titan arc.

There's also Levi's legendary moment when he looked like a fidget spinner just to cut the female titan's arms to release Eren.

Not to mention Eren and Annie's final fight and the reveal of the wall titans.

  5. The Royal Government Arc/The Uprising Arc

While Annie thrived in the Female Titan arc, Queen Historia dominated the Royal Government arc with her excellent character redemption.

In addition, as Kenny Ackerman's intriguing character was introduced in the plot, Levi's past was explored more thoroughly.

Kenny Ackerman has one of the most interesting personalities, as well as one of the most entertaining to watch.

His fight with Levi will never get old, as the animation in Attack on Titan at the time was superb!

The Royal Government arc is also a breath of fresh air, as we haven't seen humans fighting against humans rather than Titans in a long time.

It differs from the previous arcs in that it concentrates on politics and hierarchy.

We all witnessed how Rod Reiss became the arc's enemy, the King was deposed, Armin and Jean imitated Historia and Eren, and Historia punched Levi.

Oh, and Levi smiled at the end, which is a rare sight!

  6. The Rumbling Arc

The Rumbling arc has received mixed reviews; some like it, while others don't. The finale of Attack on Titan, which divided its large fanbase, is most likely to blame.

Some thought the pacing and quality were off and that it was rushed. However, the dislike for the Rumbling arc stems from the series' ending, which we all understand.

After all, the Rumbling arc was very difficult to make following the greatness and perfection of the War for Paradise arc.

It’s hard to tie the main themes of Attack on Titan together as Hajime Isayama can’t impress and/or satisfy all of his fans with their preferred ending at the end of the day.

If you enjoyed Attack on Titan's ending, then you’ll probably place this arc higher, and vice versa.

But still, the Rumbling Arc is a pretty solid arc. This is the first time we saw the alliance between the Survey Corps and the Marleyans work together to stop Eren.

This arc also featured exciting action sequences, numerous revelations, Levi's atonement versus Zeke, and, most importantly, Eren's speech about the true meaning of freedom!

  7. Clash of the Titans Arc

The Clash of the Titans storyline spans the whole second season of Attack on Titan.

It contains a lot of fantastic moments, and other than some irregular pacing throughout the arc, there aren't many negative things to say about this story arc.

The emergence of the Beast Titan for the first time is both mind-blowing and horrifying. It still gives us goosebumps to this day!

Everyone was stunned by Bertolt and Reiner's ultimate declaration to Eren. I sensed something was up with them, but I didn't expect Reiner to casually tell Eren about his true identity as the armored titan.

If this great moment hasn't spoiled you, consider yourself fortunate. It was very effectively done; the music, mood, and direction were all outstanding!

The Titan battle between Reiner and Eren will always be unforgettable! This is also the plot arc that delves into Ymir's character, which was fascinating to witness.

Not to mention, this is the story arc in which Eren initially obtained and exploited the coordinate's powers to destroy the smiling titan.

We also expected Eren to kiss Mikasa, but we were let down in the end. At least, it became a good meme.

  8. The Marley Arc

The Marley Arc is possibly the most unique of the others on the list. This was the start of Attack on Titan Season 4, and it was the first time we witnessed what was going on outside the walls.

Hajime Isayama did us a favor by allowing us to view what was going on on the other side through the characters' perspective, and he did not let us down. There is a new world, new opportunities, and other things.

We witnessed how they lived differently than the people of Paradis and how they feared and loathed them, which perplexed some of us.

We caught up with Reiner and the other warriors. We get to see his backstory and all the other people living in Marley as if they know nothing about Paradis.

This arc allowed us to get to know these characters, even if we missed the Scouts and the show's typical setting.

Furthermore, Eren is vastly different from before, as we perceive him to be more meticulous.

Everything from the declaration of war to the raid in Liberio and the conversation between Eren and Reiner in the basement was spot-on and handled flawlessly, in my opinion.

But we also lost our favorite potato girl, and things were never the same after that. The hatred for Gabi began, but the love for Falco grew stronger.

  9. Return to Shiganshina Arc

This is a no-brainer, as the Return to Shiganshina arc is easily one of the best shounen arcs, not only in Attack on Titan but also in other anime shows.

Everything about it is flawless, powerful, and really effective.

The suicidal charge, Erwin's dramatic speech, the fight between Levi and Zeke's Beast Titan, the basement reveal, Armin's sacrifice, and, of course, Eren's Attack Titan vs. Reiner's Armored Titan!

Every character in the arc also had something to contribute, regardless if they were minor or major characters or just the crowd.

It's jam-packed with action, and it has everything that Attack on Titan is known for.

This is what solidified the show in the minds of viewers, and I was convinced that nothing could ever beat it at the time.

It's so well put together that I can't help but think it should be at the top of the list.

  10. The War for Paradis Arc

This, in my opinion, is the best arc of Attack on Titan. It was the pinnacle of everything Hajime Isayama had worked for over the years, and it was delivered flawlessly.

The War for Paradis arc, like the Return to Shiganshina arc, is one of the best shounen arcs in anime history. It unveiled the biggest plot twist in Attack on Titan that no one anticipated.

Ultimately, it revealed how Eren exploited his father to make his plan a reality! Everything the characters had done previously contributed to Eren's grand scheme, which was mind-boggling.

The interaction between Ymir and Eren in the paths is just as game-changing as the basement reveal in the Return to Shiganshina Arc.

The paths interaction between Ymir and Eren is as game-changing as the basement disclosure in the Return to Shiganshina Arc.

This is also the story arc in which Eren's conflicts were addressed, prompting him to activate the Rumbling alongside Zeke and the Yeagerists.

This is also a major game changer, as we saw a significant shift in the tone and perspective of the show.

Oh, and Zeke's spinal fluid turned everyone into titans. It was terrible to see our favorite characters transform into Titans, but it did contribute to the series' peak story arc.
