Captain Marvel 2, officially titled The Marvels, just dropped the first teaser trailer of the sequel and all eyes are on Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan as they team up -- Higher. Further. Faster. Together.
Almost a month after the release of the official poster of The Marvels, a glimpse of what the narrative would be is seen on the teaser trailer, including characters, old and new, who would be gracing the big screens on November 10, 2023. Are you excited?
Directed by Nia DaCosta, The Marvels is the third movie on MCU's Phase Five which is connected to WandaVision, Ms. Marvel, and the upcoming series, Secret Invasion, among others. The epic femme-fatale team up of the three arrives soon!

The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: Introducing The S.A.B.E.R. Space Station
The teaser of The Marvels begins with a scene on space with the S.A.B.E.R. Space Station which is hovering around Earth for protection. This is a remote base headed by Nick Fury and Monica Rambeau, and surprisingly, this is a new creation in the franchise.
The space station is similar to that of S.W.O.R.D's The Peak in the comics. This puts the theory that the MCU is introducing S.A.B.E.R. as the replacement of S.W.O.R.D. which replaced S.H.I.E.L.D.
The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: Nick Fury is Back! Is He?
The one heading the S.A.B.E.R. Space Station is none other than Nick Fury who would have a huge role in MCU's Phase Five especially with his upcoming series, Secret Invasion, but there's something off with the two titles.
See, Nick Fury is seen on Earth, interacting with other Avengers but as seen on the teaser, he is heading the space station that protects Earth. So, which one is the Skrull and which one is the real Nick Fury?
Nick Fury works with Monica Rambeau, who, in WandaVision's ending, was fetched by a Skrull which said that "they are waiting" for her. This points to the connection of The Marvels with the upcoming Secret Invasion series of Nick Fury.
The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: Monica Rambeau Arrives At The Guardians' Jump Point
From the start of the teaser, Monica Rambeau is seen on her space suit where she investigates a jump point near Earth. She comes in contact with one, to her fascination, but her connection with the space station diminishes once near the jump point.
This is a concept which connects The Marvels to Guardians of the Galaxy where the Universal Neutral Teleportation Network is introduced and explained as wormholes that they use to travel fast in space from one point to another.
The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: Kamala Khan Asks, "Is This An Avengers Test?"
Then, the scene cuts to Kamala Khan, seemingly under the tutelage of Nick Fury and training to go on space but the young hero hilariously floats back to the space station upside down, says "hi" to Fury with so much excitement, and asks whether it is an Avengers test for her to do that.
The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: Explaining Ms. Marvel's Post-Credits Scene
Meanwhile, Monica Rambeau comes out of a purple wormhole where she faced warriors and it cuts to the post-credits scene of Ms. Marvel where Carol Danvers is teleported to the room of Kamala Khan and she is baffled to see it with her images on Kamala's walls and stuff.
That's weird for Carol, of course, seeing a room that looks like a shrine for her but in Ms. Marvel's post-credits scene, Carol arrived there when Kamala's bangle glowed.

In New Jersey is the Khan family and they are all present in the teaser of The Marvels where Monica Rambeau and Nick Fury are looking for Kamala Khan, much to the surprise of the whole Khan family as Kamala's father, Yusuf, opens the door.
As seen in Ms. Marvel, the whole Khan family is deeply involved in the makings of Kamala Khan as a hero, and her abilities are somehow connected to the history of their family from Aisha, the great-grandmother of Kamala.

Being a huge fan of the Avengers, especially Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan is, of course, all giddy and excited as she asks, "Did I get in?," seemingly hinting that she applied to be an Avenger or something like that. Her first reaction upon seeing Nick Fury and Monica Rambeau is so genuine!
The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: How Are Their Powers Connected?
Monica Rambeau and Nick Fury sit down with the whole Khan family as Monica explains that her powers, Kamala's, and Captain Marvel's are "entangled," where she could manipulate light energy, similar to Kamala's abilities, but in a different manner.
However, when Kamala proudly wants to show off her powers, Fury and Rambeau both tried to stop her but as she uses it, she flies off and Captain Marvel shows up, even having a tantrum saying, "Not again!" It points to her being teleported there once more.
That proves that their powers are all connected. Kamala and Monica can both manipulate light in their own ways while when Kamala uses hers, she exchanges places with Captain Marvel.

The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: Captain Marvel Reunites With Monica Rambeau
That brings everyone to the awkward reunion between Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau. Carol is so shocked to see Monica which brings the question of what happened between them that made their meeting awkward?
In Captain Marvel, it was seen that Carol and Monica were close, Carol even had Monica choose the colors of her suit from when she was young. Now, in The Marvels, it seems that the two are already distant and that is expected to be revealed in the movie.
A possible reason could be the death of Maria Rambeau, best friend of Carol and mother of Monica, which was revealed on WandaVision that she died during the Blip and Monica was among those unfortunate snapped by Thanos.
The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: Hello, Goose The Flerken!
Remember the cat that Nick Fury trusted, only for him to lose an eye? Well, the ever-so-adorable Goose the Flerken is back in The Marvels and this scene hints that when Kamala uses her powers, she gets switched to Captain Marvel's place, thus, meeting Goose.
As Kamala flies through the location, she sees Goose and when some Kree soldiers arrived, Goose immediately lashes out the tentacles from the mouth. Of course, a cute cat walks up and suddenly it has tentacles? That really shocked Kamala! Who wouldn't be surprised?!

Once a pilot, always a pilot. Carol Danvers proves that she skills never diminished and that she could drive them through space. Now, on a ship, she travels with Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau where they visit some place that looks much like Asgard but isn't. Kamala's reaction is gold, everyone!

Once a superhero, the look is never complete without a costume and as Monica Rambeau prepares for a fight, she now sports her Photon outfit which mat be from S.A.B.E.R. It is a black and white suit with her logo in the middle similar to that in the comics.
Also, what looks like the S.A.B.E.R. Space Station seems compromised as Kamala fights. Then, there were some dancing and Carol Danvers is confused. There's Kamala falling from the skies and Monica saves her. Then, Nick Fury is manning the space station.
The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: Park Seo-joon's Mystery Character Teased
One of the most awaited arrivals in the MCU is that of Park Seo-joon who is known for his role in Parasite. He looks as if a leader of some race and while it is not confirmed what his role is, the previous dancing scene somewhat confirms the rumors of the movie having some music elements.
The mystery role of Park Seo-joon seems to be connected to Captain Marvel #9 comics in 2014 where a planet is introduced and those who live there communicate through songs, it is called Aldana, and it looks similar to the race that the South Korean actor is leading.
If The Marvels will go with the comics and the place is Aldana, then, Park Seo-joon could be playing Prince Yan of Aldana, who is rumored to be the husband of Carol Danvers in the movie.
The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: Baby Flerkens, Unite!
An adorable bunch of kittens are going down the stairs and they are presumed to be Goose's kittens, which, of course, are baby Flerkens, and that means more of their kind are being introduced in the franchise through The Marvels. They're so cute, who would've thought they are dangerous?!
The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: The Kree Cosmi-Rod is With Dar-Benn!
Zawe Ashton's character is also revealed in the teaser of The Marvels where is is poised to play the villain in the sequel, Dar-Benn. Her role is genderbent. In the comics, Dar-Benn took over the empire of the Kree and ruled alongside Ael-Dan as co-emperor.
She carries a Kree Cosmi-Rod which is similar to the one used by Ronan the Accuser and since the MCU lore already saw Ronan's defeat in Guardians of the Galaxy, it makes sense that Dar-Benn took place after Ronan's demise.
The Marvels Teaser Trailer Breakdown: The Second Kree Bangle Surfaces!
In Ms. Marvel, it has been a mystery how Aisha found the bangle and how it ended up on Earth. The Clandestines are introduced to be from the Light Dimension or Noor Dimension, which directly connects the ability of Kamala to manipulate light.
Aisha only found one bangle, which, at that time, along with the Clandestines, they were looking for two. It remained a question where the second bangle is, that is, until, The Marvels teaser revealed that it is in the possession of Zawe Ashton's Dar-Benn.
The bangle looks and glows similar to that of Kamala Khan and how it ended up with the villain remains a question that the sequel is expected to answer. Still, Zawe Ashton's Dar-Benn seems to be stronger with the bangle on that she could face Monica, Kamala, and Carol all at once.
That being said, The Marvels trailer confirms that the bangle is connected to the Kree which is theorized to be Nega-Bands. From the Kree Empire, Nega-Bands are ancient relics that whosoever wears it gains powers like energy manipulation and super strength.
It is first seen in the comics of Captain Marvel #16 by Don Heck and Archie Goodwin. Captain Mar-Vell, a Kree hero, is the first bearer of the bands which could transform metal energy to physical ones.
The teaser ends with Kamala Khan asking if they are already a team which Monica and Carol immediately dismisses but knowing Kamala, just working with her idol makes the adventure worthwhile.
