The MCU continues to expand in television series as the studio just dropped another list of additional shows forming part of their Disney Plus slate, among which would be Ms. Marvel, also known as Kamala Khan who would be portrayed by newcomer Iman Vellani. Who is this character and what are her powers that she would also appear in Captain Marvel 2?
Who is Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan?
Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kamala Khan is a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani-American attending school in New Jersey who struggles to fit in. She is a huge fan of Captain Marvel and she pens superhero fan fiction. One fateful day, she gets superpowers opening her an opportunity to be like her idols. She, then, becomes Ms. Marvel.
She has tons of knowledge about the avengers, a superfan. A Jersey girl that she is, she protects the place and she never backs down on her dream to, finally, be like her idols. They are her role models, the ones she looks up to, most especially, Captain Marvel, who later becomes her mentor.
What are the Powers of Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan?
She has a superhuman ability of altering her shape and size which perfectly fits her personality. In the comics, she is an Inhuman who transformed when the Terrigen Mist was released by Black Bolt to Earth. After she transformed through terrigenesis, she could extend her limbs to her will, change her physical appearance, and she could even shape shift.
However, her powers are changed in the show. Her grandmother sent a box of jewelries which contained a band that she easily got attracted to. Her mother tried to keep it away from her but being Kamala, she's stubborn, so she took it.
When Kamala wore the band, she felt a surge of energy flowing through her and by the time she goes up the stage, Kamala exhibits her powers for the first time. It turns out she can generate light to any shape she want. She even saved Zoe from falling by making a big light hand!
Iman Vellani plays Ms. Marvel/ Kamala Khan and is joined by Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, Nimra Bucha, and Laura Marsden. Reportedly, they would also be joined by Farhan Akhtar as well.
