Ms. Marvel: What is The Noor Dimension?

Ms. Marvel Episode 3, Destined, finally reveals Kamala’s true heritage belonging to a race coming from a different dimension. Najma tells Kamala about Aisha, Kamala’s great-grandmother and how they belong from a different dimension called the Noor, which means light.

All those from the Noor Dimension have the power of light but for them, they cannot use it in the dimension where Kamala and they are currently in. They found the bangle on a severed blue arm in the rubbles of a temple and it was Aisha who confirmed that the bangle is what they needed to get home to their dimension but they needed two and only one was there.

However, they were being cornered by the British so they had to flee and Aisha got separated from the others. That was the last time she was ever seen. Unknown to Najma at that time, Aisha felt the same surge of energy that Kamala had when she wore the bangle.

Najma tells Kamala that they are the Clandestines, those who the legends call as the Djinn or demons according to lore. Najma says that they need the bangle but Kamala was uncertain whether to give it up However, later in the episode, it was revealed that Najma wasn’t asking at all and they forcibly tried to take it from Kamala but failed.

In the Marvel comics, there is no such thing as a Noor Dimension. This means that the concept is made solely for Ms. Marvel and it gives the creators of the show the flexibility to delve into the concept without having to change anything from the comics.

With Ms. Marvel having a change in her powers from being like Mister Fantastic to making hard light, the introduction of the Noor Dimension would surely be pivotal as she discovers her whole potential as a superhero and her roots coming from a race from a different dimension, and that includes Sana, her grandmother, and Muneeba, her mother.

Different dimensions are no strangers to the MCU. It is worth noting that there is a Dark dimension, a mirror dimension, and a whole lot of other dimensions explained in Doctor Strange.

Now, all Kamala has to do is to take her mother to Karachi as per the instructions of her grandmother after seeing the same vision of the train. Kamala will now be diving deep into their family’s past to learn how to defeat the villains that are after her.

Ms. Marvel is currently streaming on Disney Plus.
