Will Spider-Man: No Way Home Be On Netflix?

As the MCU's upcoming sequel Spider-Man: No Way Home prepares to swing into movie theaters on December 17 this year, naturally, Spidey fans everywhere are wondering when the film will be available to stream on Netflix, especially considering that many people are still avoiding theaters due to the ongoing pandemic.

The third entry in the latest Spider-Man series sees the return of Tom Holland as the web-slinging, caped crusader, who will meet his greatest challenge yet when the ‘Multiverse' is opened after Peter asks Doctor Strange to ‘undo' Mysterio's revealing of his identity, as seen at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home.

But this time, it looks like Marvel will be stepping things up, as the film will also see the return of original villains from outside the MCU, in the form of Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx's Electro, and Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, all of whom are from the two previous Spider-Man franchises.

However, there's still no confirmation as to whether we'll also be seeing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield swing into action to help Tom Holland, so, despite there being lots of other reveals, unfortunately, the two original Spideys are nowhere to be seen in the new trailer.

So, whether it's alongside the theatrical release, or weeks or months afterward, will Spider-Man: No Way Home be on Netflix? Or even Disney+ for that matter?

It hasn't yet been confirmed whether Spider-Man: No Way Home will stream on Netflix, but we do know that the MCU's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set for release on September 3 this year, and will arrive on Disney+ 45 days later. Earlier this year, Sony signed a deal with Disney to allow them access to their 'legacy' content, including Spider-Man films and Sony Marvel movies such as Venom. However, this will only happen once those titles release on Netflix.

Even if the film is headed for Netflix, it isn't currently listed among the movies confirmed by Netflix USA for 2021. For the time being, all Sony movies will stream on Lionsgate's Starz following their theatrical releases, and in the case of Spider-Man: No Way Home, whether it's Starz or Netflix, this isn't likely to be until sometime during 2022 anyway, with the film set for release right at the end of this year.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set for theatrical release on December 17, 2021, though there are currently no confirmed plans for it to stream on Disney+ at the same, as was the case with this year's Black Widow, which is no surprise following the Scarlett Johansson controversy.

With that said, this is likely more to do with the fact that the movie is co-produced by Marvel Studios and Sony. In other words, Spider-Man isn't owned by Disney, which is why it took Marvel so long to introduce him into the MCU. Although none of that matters anymore, now that previous Spideys from the ‘Sonyverse' are rumored to appear in the film (or at the very least villains from outside the MCU).

So, unfortunately, you also won't find any other Spider-Man films on Disney+, whether it's the original trilogy, The Amazing Spider-Man movies, or anything from the MCU, with the exception of other movies he's appeared in, such as Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. But you will find plenty of animated Spidey shows on the streaming service.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set for theatrical release on December 17, 2021.
