Marvel fans like you across the world are currently scrolling through Disney Plus just looking, hoping to see a glimpse of their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and are sadly not successful. But why is it that we can’t watch our favorite webhead when he is so clearly a part of The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)?
Disney and Sony
Before Disney bought Marvel Entertainment back in 2009, Marvel outsourced its films and gave other studios the film rights to particular characters, this included giving the X-men to 20th Century Fox and Spider-Man to Sony who then brought out Tobey Maguires’ Spider-Man in 2002 and every other Spider-Man film since . However, fans were excited when Disney and Sony launched a partnership and allowed Spidey to come back to the big screen with the rest of Avengers in Captain America 3: Civil War.
Since then, Disney and Sony have taken their partnership further and have announced that Disney will be showing Sony films including Spider-Man on Disney plus. However, they have not announced an official date yet. We simply hope that this will be done by the end of 2021 so that Disney+ will be able to release Spider-Man: No way Home in 2022.
Where Can I Watch Spider-Man?
Whether you’re looking for Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, or Tom Holland, You sadly won’t find any of them wearing the blue and red tights on Disney Plus. However, fear not because depending on where you are in the world it’s still possible to get them on different streaming services.
