What happened in Loki Episode 2?
In Loki Episode 2, The Variant, we see Loki studying with Miss Minutes about his upcoming mission on the field, to Oshkosh, Wisconsin in pursuit of the variant who, this time, kidnapped a minuteman of the Time Variance Authority, Hunter C-20. Upon arriving, Loki was able to deduce some information and his talking led the branch to reach critical, then, we see what happens once the reset capsule goes into effect.
Mobius had to face Judge Renslayer about the botched mission and he pleaded one more chance for Loki. His punishment was to read at the library and as Loki approaches the librarian, he asks about the history of the TVA, its creation, start and end time – all of which are classified, and the only thing that isn't was the destruction of Asgard.
Upon reading, Loki realized something as he saw that in an apocalyptic event, there is no variance detected. This dawned on him where the variant is hiding. Loki explains in a hilarious demonstration using the salad of Mobius that as an apocalyptic event completely cuts off a timeline, it would not branch out. He proves this to Mobius by going to Pompeii just before the eruption of the volcano.
Mobius believes that they could find the Loki variant and he correlated it with the kablooie gum. They track the time from when the gum was commercially available and Loki found where the variant could be hiding: In 2050, in a superstorm labeled as a level 10 apocalyptic event which wiped out all those who are there.
Loki faces the variant through Hunter B-15 coming into contact with someone buying a plant in the middle of a storm. He realizes that this variant passes its consciousness to another. Loki reveals to them that he plans to overthrow the Time-Keepers and needs another qualified person to help him. Loki variant says no and we all got served that talking to him was all a plan to stall time and set the charges.
Various time reset charges had been set and once unleashed, it created multiple branches putting the TVA on high alert deploying multiple agents, even Judge Renslayer. As for the Loki variant, she reveals herself: Lady Loki. And, as she opened a portal, just as Mobius and the TVA arrived, Loki followed her wherever she goes.
Loki Episode 3 Theories, Spoilers, and Leaks
So, the Mephisto theory was so two series ago, WandaVision, and this time, we might be facing another villain: the Enchantress. We see Lady Loki impressively transfer her consciousness to someone else from a distance proving how capable she is of mind control. Though we have yet to see her full powers, she is definitely on to something else, possibly being someone else.
In the credits, Sophia di Martino's character was named Sylvie Lushton, and in the comics, she is a New Yorker that Loki gave powers to for his own purpose. Sylvie modeled her appearance to Amora, the original Enchantress. It is possible that we would be seeing this comic book arc, or maybe something similar to it once we get more in the next episode.
The time branches she made are also familiar names, we see Lisbon, Vormir, Asgard, Rome, Thorton, and Cookeville. What is the plan of Lady Loki and why did she deliberately choose these places and timelines to be branched?
Also, it might have been a missed moment but the Miss Minutes exposure in this episode seems fishy, to say the least. She is real and she is talking to Loki in real-time. She introduced the history and background of the TVA and she even has her very own Twitter page. In some post, she had a cryptic message in Nordic runes where she said she would burn everything to the ground once she escapes the TVA.
And for one unexpected but possible theory, what is up with Casey? Doesn't he look suspicious? He's always there, always in the background. You know this is Marvel, anyone could be the villain.
