Finally having his own spotlight, Loki, in his 2012 self, escapes with the tesseract while the Avengers are on the hunt through time for all the six infinity stones. With Loki gone, Captain America and Ironman traveled further in time, just before Tony was even born, to retrieve the tesseract and some Pym particles which are still being studied by Hank Pym.

Little did Loki know that he already had a full timeline that already happened and where he already became a hero to Asgard as he fulfilled the prophecy of Ragnarok to defeat their evil sister Hela and he faced his demise with the Mad Titan. As far as the Loki on the series is concerned, he might not even know Hela exists.

Now that he messed with time, it is now his moment to prove his worth to the Time Variance Authority who keeps track of how time works in the MCU.
