As a way of repenting for his sins, Loki has been handed over a job at the Time Variance Authority (TVA), where he meets plenty of his variants. Of all Loki variants, however, one that stood the most out of them is none other than Lady Loki (Sophia di Martino). This article covers the true identity behind Lady Loki (aka Sylvie), her origins and powers, as well as her role thus far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now, considering that she is a certified Loki variant, surely she must possess different (or even stronger) qualities that the 'main' God of Mischief does not?

In the comics, Lady Loki is a popular character who was responsible for the destruction of Asgard, the one who pursued the Ragnarok prophecy.

Of course, in the MCU, we all know it was Loki who did that, but it seems that introducing Lady Loki is a way of opening the multiverse, an event that could cause the instability of the Sacred Timeline.

Lady Loki is literally Loki in the body of a woman.

Lady Loki's actual name in the series is Sylvie Laufeydottir, an Asgardian princess who escaped the Time Variance Authority (TVA) when she was a child.

She had been on the run since she unknowingly caused a Nexus event by not properly training enough to save Thor, which caused the TVA on the run to keep her from branching out the multiverse.

Well, as Loki Season 1 revealed it, her entire plan revolved around getting revenge against the TVA for interfering with her life, practically 'destroyed' from her perspective.

Being on the run meant having to hide throughout different timelines, which made her situation worse since the more she hid, the more complicated the structure of the multiverse became.

Based on the comics, Lady Loki and Loki are one in the same person. Their powers and skills are pretty much the same. However, in the MCU, there is an ongoing supremacy battle between Loki and Lady Loki as they are not the same entity.

Loki variants come in different shapes, sizes, genders, and even whole physicality.

As for Lady Loki, she is definitely strong in combat and what makes her powerful is that she can fully control minds with no direct contact like the one we see in the first season of Loki.

In the first season of Loki, Sylvie has also shown that she can alter the memories of others to retrieve the information she needs, aside from getting to control their mind accordingly.

Theories also arise that she might not really be Lady Loki at all but another villain in Marvel Comics, Enchantress, which is why she could control minds with such ease.

In the credits, Sophia di Martino's character was named Sylvie Lushton, and in the comics, she is a New Yorker whom Loki gave powers for his own purpose.

Sylvie modeled her appearance to Amora, the original Enchantress.

It doesn't help Loki that he's grown attached and infatuated with his own variant, rendering him easy to fool and blindly believe in Sylvie's words.

With Loki now becoming the God of Stories, this complicates things, making the Loki variant we followed in his titular series quite possibly the most powerful version of him to exist in the franchise.

Sylvie felt... lost yet free from the shackles of her past when Loki Season 2 arrived. She was the only episode (and character) who got her very own post-credit scenes, and the only other Loki variant who reprised her role in the series.

Despite managing to stand her own ground by building her foundation somewhere in 1987 Broxton McDonalds, Loki &Mobius would always come find her seeking her help.

By the end of the series, she does help in her own way. She even got to manifest and showcase more of her powers, which include seeing through X-5 aka Zaniac's memories.

As for when we could see her next within the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains unknown. So, for now, you can watch her in Loki Season 1 and Season 2 streaming on Disney Plus.
