Warning: if you haven't seen the latest episode of Loki, this article contains spoilers so read at your own risk!
We're only two episodes in but there's no denying that things are already starting to get chaotic and not to mention downright confusing in Marvel Studios' Loki. The latest episode of the Marvel Cinematic Universe spinoff series answers some of the questions the premiere left unresolved and if you've been closely following Phase 4, the events that took place in Episode 2 will most likely blow your brains out.
Titled "The Variant", the said episode marks the official MCU debut of Lady Loki, the mysterious hooded figure that has been tormenting the sacred timeline since the beginning of the series. The notorious variant also reveals her plans of branching out the timelines although her true motivations still remain a mystery. This is where the biggest revelation potentially comes into play.
In Episode 1, it was explained to Loki by the Time Variance Authority through Miss Minutes that messing up with the timeline leads to the creation of the multiverse. Loki's tesseract heist wasn't supposed to happen which is why the TVA arrested the God of Mischief before things went from bad to worse.
In WandaVision, fans were led to believe that Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch has something to do with opening up the portal to the multiverse but in a stunning turn of events, Loki may have actually debunked that long-standing MCU theory and for all we know, Lady Loki could be the one responsible for creating the multiverse the moment she meddled with the timelines.
Now, there's no doubt that Loki does in fact set up Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and it'll be interesting to see what role the God of Mischief plays in the upcoming MCU film. But despite Lady Loki's potential involvement in the "creation" of the multiverse, the idea of Wanda being responsible for it still remains pretty plausible. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how everything plays out.
