While we've already seen Loki, the main one we've grown up watching at least, meet his death at Thanos' hands, he's back at it with his own series led by a different variant of his. This poses the question: who dies and survives in the Loki series?

Call us pessimists, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken quite a turn this Phase Five in deciding which characters to keep and which ones to write off completely. Secret Invasion certainly had had its fair share (ahem, Maria Hill).

Though granted she wasn't as huge of a protagonist as Nick Fury is, her sudden death (and briefly, G'iah's) undoubtedly painted shock on MCU fans. This could also mean horrible, tragic fates for other major MCU characters.

Loki Season 2 has just ended the God of Mischief's titular series, here's a list of all those who have died and survived during the series run:

The God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) first landed himself in the Time Variance Authority headquarters when he unconsciously tampered with the Sacred Timeline.

While he wasn't able to fulfill what he believed to be his 'glorious purpose' on his timeline, he was given a second chance at life by helping out the TVA tracking down his other variant causing chaos amidst the timeline.

In Episode Four, Sylvie and him were stuck in the TVA headquarters, when the branching timelines suddenly set off and the ray of light went through the citadel's windows.

As the main character of the story, he had two choices: to either die trying or become something else entirely. Lo and behold, the God of Mischief transformed into the God of Stories.

Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie is one for the books in the long-running Marvel franchise, especially since we get to see another God of Mischief's role on the small screens being depicted by a woman.

Having had to choose the fate of the TVA and the rest of the world, she decided to go with her gut and that is by killing the Kang the Conqueror variant, He Who Remains.

Loki Season 2 starts at the bat with Sylvie coming to 1980s Oklahoma to rebuild the normal life she always wanted when she was a kid.

By episode 5, Sylvie disappeared along with the branching timelines for a minute. That is, before Loki time-slipped and reversed her supposed 'death'.

There's also the finale episode to consider, wherein Loki was nearly left with no choice but to send Sylvie to her death.

However, he chose a different path that led to the better of the Multiverse and left Sylvie to tell her own story outside of TVA-related matters.

So, no, she is very much alive, still, even by the end of the series.

Does Mobius Die in Loki Season 2?

Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) is a TVA agent who willingly helps in trying to change Loki from his ways of trickery into serving the greater good on the Sacred Timeline.

Though his memories of Loki had vanished this Season 2, the bond they formed together certainly did not.

Mobius was keen on helping his friend recover from the Time Slipping incident, even if it meant losing his skin and life to extreme lengths.

Seeing as Mobius is one of the most beloved characters on the show, MCU diehards are speculating that he could be one of those deaths the franchise would suffer from.

By Episode 5, just like what Sylvie had to go through, Mobius had a short meeting with death, only until Loki learned to slip through time and brought everyone back to where they were.

The end of Loki Season 2 saw to it that Mobius had his ending outside the TVA.

Ouroboros

The first episode, titled Ouroboros, introduces the newest cast member of the series and the billion-dollar franchise, Ke Huy Quan, who's prominently known for his starring roles in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Ouroboros (or 'OB' for short) was tasked to help Loki and Mobius with the inexplicable time slipping the God of Mischief was experiencing in the TVA. Considering that time doesn't work in the organization, this became quite a thinker.

Then again, there's a possibility that the time slipping was caused by Loki and Sylvie's interference with the plans of He Who Remains in the End of Time during Season 1.

When Loki was still learning how to time-slip, they were doing it right on Mobius' timeline, and when it looked as though all failed to push through, Loki brought back everyone, including O.B.

So, he is pretty much still alive and operating as an active member of the TVA by handing out new manuals for the other TVA agents to read and study through.

Victor Timely

Victor Timely was an unexpected Kang variant who seemingly didn't want to take over the TVA for himself.

As much of a swindler as he was known, gaining powers in the TVA didn't lead him to selfish gains, instead, he took the lead in trying to save it in the fourth episode.

Unfortunately, the minute he stepped out of the TVA headquarters, his body dissipated into spaghetti on the fourth episode.

The series showed no signs of whether we're getting a different Kang variant this Season 2 or if they're sticking with Timely with a twist. This would have to wait until the next episode airs next week.

However, there is the possibility that this is how Marvel is addressing dropping the actor Jonathan Majors from his major role in the MCU.

By the end of Loki Season 2, though, Victor Timely essentially lived to tell the tale. Except, this time, he doesn't get the TVA manual and goes on a different path as a Kang variant.

Other Loki Characters Who Died and Survived in the Series

Unexpectedly, by the third episode, Sylvie transported Renslayer back into the End of Time, where the rotting corpse of He Who Remains was found.

Although he essentially died in the first season, his appearance is worth mentioning in terms of whether or not he's the same person as his variant, Mr. Timely, and it seems, based on the corpse, he's not.

General Dox and a couple of TVA agents who worked with her in defeating the branching timelines have been killed, too.

Miss Minutes, on the other hand, has been kicked out of the Time Variance Authority's server after OB purposely rebooted the system, turning her into a simple non-talking clock who has yet to return to her old self.

Other characters starring in the series include Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) whose return could be pivotal with Sylvie once more, especially since these two were the first among the TVA agents to discover B-15 had her variants on the timeline.

Eugene Cordero's Casey is back on the case, too, as well as Gugu Mbatha-Raw's bigger role as Ravonna Renslayer this second season. She's been surmised to be Kang the Conqueror's love interest who built the TVA behind the scenes.

Episode 5 addressed the abrupt deaths of Casey and Hunter B-15 alongside the titular characters, only to bring them back when Loki learned how to slip through time.

Overall, nobody else died by the series finale.
