Back in 2019, Margot Robbie confirmed reports that she would be starring in a Barbie live-action film adaptation of the iconic Mattel doll. The project was deemed even more exciting when Ryan Gosling said yes to star as Barbie's partner, Ken.
So far, we already know that the film is directed by Greta Gerwig, who is also writing the script along with partner Noah Baumbach. The film is produced by Mattel Films, HeyDay Films, and LuckyChap Entertainment.

When Is the Barbie Movie Coming Out?
Early this year, set photos revealed Robbie and Gosling in costume while they filmed scenes for the movie. The photos showed the two actors donning blonde hair, a fake tan, and lots of pink and neons.
The movie will be released in theaters on July 21, 2023.
What Is Barbie Movie Plot About?
As of this writing, there's no word on what the story of the film will be about.
Robbie told The Hollywood Reporter:
"We like the things that feel a little left of centre. Something like Barbie where the IP, the name itself, people immediately have an idea of, 'Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is,' but our goal is to be like, 'Whatever you’re thinking, we’re going to give you something totally different — the thing you didn’t know you wanted.'"

On December 16, 2022 Warner Bros. Pictures released the first teaser trailer of Barbie, which is right on time with its Twitter announcement. But prior to this, there were some theaters that played the film's teaser trailer in Avatar: The Way of Water.
