Avengers: Infinity War saw to it that the ending of the main Loki's journey would be through his most glorious purpose. However, when the God of Mischief was given his own titular series, a different variant of him took the spotlight. From God of Mischief to God of Stories: Loki's Glorious Purpose
There is no denying that MCU fans were distraught the minute we witnessed Loki's death scene by Thanos' hands in Infinity War.
Considering that he's the God of Mischief, his death remains one of the most controversial decisions within the billion-dollar franchise.
However, the minute the Loki series was confirmed back in 2021, nearly three years since his big on-screen death, MCU diehards scratched their noggins as to how this was possible, and why Disney and Marvel would even decide to let the show come to fruition.
As it turned out, Loki's glorious purpose has always been teased beyond his capabilities. Rather, through his variant. And it just so happened to have begun when Loki stole the Tesseract from the Avengers in Endgame.
Then and there, Loki has had to figure out the next step - outside the boundaries of time. Specifically, in the Time Variance Authority, an entity that has long existed to keep the Multiverse at bay.
Sure, we have Doctor Strange as the Sorcerer Supreme doing a part of this job and quite possibly, more characters who have yet to make their big screen debut, but what makes Loki any different?
The truth is, placing Loki as the God of Stories entails much more than protecting the Multiverse. Here's why.

Does This Mean Loki Became the New He Who Remains?
When He Who Remains was first introduced in Loki Season 1, his existence was something new, abruptly adding to the roster of Marvel's cinematic universe.
He's the ruler behind the Sacred Timeline, he ran things at the Time Variance Authority headquarters, plus he and his variants have an entire council dedicated to conquering the Multiverse.
You've got to admit, the Kang variants are smarter than they seem, to have ruled out every possible version of them into existence. To gather and form an alliance, stronger than anyone could think of.
The ruling of He Who Remains means the multiversal war would continue to be at peace, never wavering, while the Sacred Timeline flows exactly how it's supposed to be.
Now, since Loki became the God of Stories, as seen in the finale episode of Loki Season 2, does this make him the new ruler of the TVA? Is he the new He Who Remains?
Well, as much as Marvel failed to explicitly address this, if we take a look at how things ended with the series, Loki burned the branching timelines that were causing the chaos in the Multiverse, all the way so he could reach the throne of He Who Remains at the end of those ropes.
Once he sat down, he officially became the God of Stories, and who could be more powerful than a God, exactly?
