Doctor Strange 2: Is Mordo Working With The Illuminati? Is He A Villain?

Baron Mordo is one of the most trusted sorcerers in Kamar Taj as introduced in the first Doctor Strange film and he had been on the side of Strange until it was revealed that the then Sorcerer Supreme, Ancient One, was using dark magic to prolong her life. By the end of the movie, he seems to be on some vigilantism as he has the vision to lessen the sorcerers around the world, possibly being shaped up to be a villain.

However, it had been years since everyone saw the last of Baron Mordo, that is until the first-ever teaser of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness dropped where he finally comes out of the shadows, talking to Strange about how the rules of space and time were bent and that there are consequences for that.

In the mind-blowing official trailer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Mordo is seen once more and it suggests that he may have been working with the Illuminati, contributing to the arrest of Doctor Strange, and everyone’s jaw dropped to hear the voice of Professor X talk to Strange while he faces a tribunal of some sorts.

Theories, however, point out that Mordo is working with the Illuminati and could probably be a member of the tribunal as well. In the comics, the Illuminati is created by Tony Stark and the members were him, Black Bolt, Namor, Professor X, and Reed Richards, Doctor Strange sat on the tribunal as well when they decided to send off Hulk to somewhere else.

Considering that Doctor Strange is the one facing the Illuminati, it is possible that it is Mordo sitting in his position, and that could easily answer where Mordo had been all the years he was missing in action. As regards being a villain, though, his perspective seems to have changed over time, too, however, it is too early to tell whether he would be one. After all, there are a lot of theories that point to another character being the big villain in the movie.
