For years, Hugh Jackman tried to dodge every single conversation about reprising his role as Wolverine after he "retired" in Logan, but now, his return is inevitable as he returns in Deadpool 3. Surprisingly, Deadpool 2 producer Kelly McCormick reveals they had early talks with the actor to join as early as the second movie.
Following the completion of the merger of Disney and 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios has been working double time to get the mutants into the franchise and with Deadpool 3 coming soon, that comes with the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine as well, after he confirmed it with Ryan Reynolds.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, while talking about the new movie, Violent Night, the producer of Deadpool 2, Kelly McCormick revealed that as early as Deadpool 2, they already had conversations to bring Hugh Jackman in the movie as Wolverine.
McCormick reveals that in Deadpool 2, they talked to Hugh Jackman already, "David and Hugh are friends and there had been conversations about including um, Hugh and different things when we were having those conversations back in the day. I'm just really excited for them and it was an amazing experience for us."
"Obviously Ryan is Deadpool and the godfather of Deadpool and so it all sort of like rested on his shoulders in those ways. Then, we just got busy is really the truth. I'm super excited about three," McComick expressed as she shows her excitement for Deadpool 3.
Hugh Jackman confirmed his return as Wolverine in a promotional video with Ryan Reynolds who played Deadpool and they announced the arrival of Deadpool 3 happening in September 2024, but due to some delays in the releases caused by Blade, the movie will now arrive in November of the same year.

That being said, the arrival of Wolverine in the MCU has been hinted more than once in the recently concluded Marvel series, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law with an Easter egg of a bar fight involving a man with three claws and Nikki Ramos imitating Wolverine's claws with her make-up brushes.
The mutants are also slowly being introduced in the MCU with the possibility of Ms. Marvel being the first confirmed one after the finale of the series, then Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever identified himself as a mutant, and the mutants who appeared in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.
Hugh Jackman's arrival in Deadpool 3 is highly anticipated especially with his quirky friendship with Ryan Reynolds expected to be translated through the upcoming movie.
Deadpool 3 arrives in theaters on November 8, 2024.
