Is Deadpool 3 Set in the MCU?

Deadpool has been one of the most successful Marvel titles to exist outside the MCU because what is not to love, right? Ryan Reynolds plays the character so naturally, as if he is born to portray the role. After the acquisition of Disney by 20th Century Studios, many got worried about the future of Deadpool should be part of the MCU.

Great news for all the fans of the Merc with a Mouth as Deadpool 3 is confirmed to be a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie by none other than the big boss of the franchise, Kevin Feige. In January 2021, as reported by Collider, Kevin Feige assured the fans that Deadpool is arriving in the MCU as is.

Feige said, “We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”

Recently, in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, the screenwriters of the previous Deadpool movies will be on board as well and Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick described what it is like to be part of the MCU, Reese said, “It’s a thrill. It’s an absolute thrill to have the band back together, to have a new backdrop in the MCU with new characters, new villains, that kind of thing.”

Reese added, “You know, it’s never a marriage we necessarily saw coming—Fox and Disney, that was an external thing from our storytelling process. But we’re absolutely finding the serendipity and the gold in that situation, or we’re trying to.” Wenick proudly declared, “Deadpool is gonna be Deadpool.”

With the addition of the Merc with a Mouth in the MCU, the target audience of the franchise expands to more mature content, and with the arrival of new characters that are more kid-friendly like Ms. Marvel, the MCU is surely going to capture the whole audience spectrum.

Imagine, how cool would it be to have Deadpool joining forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy or the Avengers? It would be a blast and possibly the most hilarious the MCU will ever be in its whole history!

Deadpool 3 has no release date yet. It is currently under development.
