Adam Sandler Says He Might Never Star in MCU or DCU Despite Big Love For Them

Recently, some stars have expressed their feelings that they feel stuck having to work for major Hollywood franchises, whether it be for MCU, Star Wars, DCU, or Harry Potter

However, on the other side of the coin, there are actors who believe they might never star in these franchises despite how much they love them, which is the case for comedian-actor Adam Sandler.

In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Sandler revealed that he has never been considered for or received an invitation to join any of Hollywood's big franchises, despite having enormous love for them.

“I’ve never thought about it, maybe because no one has ever asked me. I don’t know. I’m very into it, I love that stuff. I see that stuff and I go wow, these amazing movies, but no it hasn’t happened and probably won’t happen.” said the Grown Ups actor.

In 2013, a rumor circulated that Sandler had been shortlisted for the role of Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. If ever that rumor was true, it is obvious by now that it never went through. Besides, the Blended actor himself has already confirmed that no one has ever asked him to join any major franchises, which is why he can't see himself in one.

Last year, James Gunn had to respond to a tweet that claimed that Sandler lost out on both of his auditions for Rocket Raccoon and Groot for the Guardians of the Galaxy film.

The tweet wrote, “Adam Sandler was in the race for voicing Rocket Raccoon in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1. Director James Gunn ended up choosing Bradley Cooper for the role. And after losing the role to Cooper, Sandler also auditioned to play Groot but sadly was beaten by Vin Diesel.”

Gunn immediately answered the claim point-blank, saying: “This is not true. I've never even met Adam Sandler.”

Sandler has already let go of the idea that he might ever star in the MCU, given that, despite numerous rumors, the studio has never considered him. But are the fans going to back down?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 premieres in theaters on May 5, 2023.
