Now that the X-Men is joining forces in the MCU in preparation for the Multiverse, here is everything we know so far about the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie's release date, cast, plot, and more.

The foul-mouthed darling of the big screen is back! Deadpool is still on track for its threequel.

Fans of the franchise have been worried that the latest movie will no longer happen for several reasons, the pandemic included.

However, new reports prove that Deadpool 3 is already in development under Marvel Studio as a part of the Disney-Fox deal. Without further ado, here's everything you need to know about the Deadpool threequel!

Marvel confirmed that Deadpool 3 was already in development and was previously set to come out on November 8, 2024, one month after its last release date, which was September 6.

Marvel decided to adjust its release calendar after director Bassam Tariq left Blade, another Marvel movie in production.

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds previously suggested that production may take place sometime in 2022.

However, back in October 2021, Reynolds also said that he was taking a break from acting.

Considering that Marvel Phase Five continues to face multiple delays, here's a little bad news for you.

Is Deadpool 3 Delayed Again?

Borys Kit from The Hollywood Reporter posted a Tweet about an unnamed movie that was originally meant to be released on February 16, 2024, but was rescheduled to debut on September 6, 2024, instead.

Fans are speculating that the 'unnamed movie' is Deadpool 3. Could it be true?

Well, according to recent news, Deadpool 3 has been once again rescheduled to release on May 3, 2024. This doesn't mean this will be the final release date, though.

With the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Variety reports that the filming for the Deadpool threequel has come to a stop, which could mean yet another delayed release date in the future.

Most recently, Deadpool 3 helmer Shawn Levy told (confirmed) TheWrap disappointing news about shifting the production schedule yet again:

"I wish I knew. I don't even know if we officially have [a release date]. I know we were gonna be May 3. Certainly, the actors' strike and the long pause in production have put that release date in true risk. We've shot half the movie. I've edited half the movie. We're dying to get back to work and get this movie out next year."

Finally, after months filled with uncertainty, both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have reached their conclusion and according to a new report, Deadpool 3 will resume production either this week or in the next couple of days.

The bad news is, Deadpool 3's release date has once again been pushed back. According to a new report from Variety, the Merc with a Mouth's MCU debut will now occur on July 26, 2024, which happens to be Captain America: Brave New World's supposed premiere date.

Deadpool 3 Cast: Who are the Cast Members in the Third Deadpool Movie?

Marvel and Disney have not announced any castings yet, but, one thing is for sure, Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Wade Wilson for Deadpool 3.

The personas of Wilson and Deadpool are so deeply woven together that it will be difficult to see another actor play the role of the Regenerating Degenerate.

Of course, Hugh Jackman's return as Wolverine is a no-brainer for this one, since he and Reynolds have been practically marketing their entrance to the MCU before the Deadpool threequel was even confirmed.

As for the other actors from the two previous Deadpool movies, it is still unclear whether or not any of them will come back.

We may see some of the members of the X-Force, both surviving and dead because there will always be ways to bring everyone back to life.

On July 7, 2023, Jennifer Garner was reported to be reprising her role as Elektra since her debut in 2005.

Unfortunately, Zazie Beets who played Domino in Deadpool 2 will not be returning for Deadpool 3 as she is not listed on the third film's roster.

In the meantime, here's the complete cast members for Deadpool 3:

  • Morena Baccarin as Vanessa
  • Leslie Uggams as Blind Al
  • Stefan Kapičić as Colossus
  • Rob Delaney as Peter
  • Karan Soni as Dopinder
  • Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead
  • Shioli Katsuna as Yukio
  • Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius
  • Emma Corrin as the unnamed villain
  • Matthew Macfadyen

Coming Hugh-n (Soon)

We've been craving for an update, and boy, did Ryan Reynolds deliver.

On September 28, 2022, Reynolds posted on his YouTube channel without warning.

In the video, he talked about his preparation for his first appearance in the MCU, how much he thought about his story, his soul-searching process, and that when he reached down deep inside, what he saw was - nothing.

But then they had one good idea.

Hugh Jackman's Return as Wolverine

What used to be rumors is soon coming to fruition, with Hugh Jackman once again donning his claws to appear as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.

Jackman previously addressed his surprise about the rumors himself, as evidenced by the pictures he shared on social media.

Then, in September 2022, Ryan Reynolds posted a video asking Hugh Jackson if he felt like returning as Wolverine one last time.

Turns out Logan is up to wake us up before he go go.

Ryan Reynolds partners up with Kevin Feige to produce Deadpool 3.

Sisters Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, who is known for writing for the animated series Bob's Burgers, were reportedly taken on to write for the movie, but the latest news says that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will be writing the screenplay for the film.

As for the director, Reynolds will reunite with The Adam Project director Shawn Levy after Levy was hired to lead Deadpool 3.

Kevin Feige Aiming to Elevate Deadpool

During the 2022 San Diego Comic-Co, Kevin Feige talked about the various MCU projects on the way, like Blade, Fantastic Four, and Captain America: New World Order.

One of the movies not tapped on in Hall H, however, was Deadpool 3 but Feige noted how Marvel studio has been known for taking bold steps in part threes.

“How do we elevate it in the way we’ve been able to with Civil War, and Infinity War and Ragnarok? It’s very fun to be in the world of the Ryan Reynolds show.”

Dan Saladino is Training Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds is starting to prepare for Deadpool 3 as pre-production for the movie seems to be on the way.

He seems to have started training again with coach Dan Saladino who has been with him since the first Deadpool movie.

Saladino has also trained other stars for big shows and movies like Sebastian Stan for The Winter Soldier and David Harbour for the Stranger Things franchise.

Deadpool 3 Plot: What Will Be the Plot of the Threequel?

Deadpool's integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be quite challenging, but this film may be an opportunity to introduce other Fox characters into the MCU through cameos.

Because Deadpool is known for breaking the fourth wall, he could be the perfect narrator to connect Fox and Disney storylines.

Deadpool 3 could also be a soft reboot for the franchise, effectively shifting the Disney Deadpool away from the Deadpool that we associate with Fox.

Aside from this possibility, we may also see Deadpool time-traveling.

By the end credits of Deadpool 2, we learn that Negasonic Teenage Warhead has repaired Cable's time machine.

She handed the contraption over to Wade who traveled through time to correct all his mistakes in the past (including one where we see alternate Ryan Reynolds holding a Green Lantern script).

He even tries to kill a baby Hitler. These end credits present us with the possibility that Deadpool may integrate through the MCU via time travel.

Reese told Post Cred Pod that the third Deadpool movie will be a "fish-out-of-water" story.

It’s a wonderful opportunity for fish-out-of-water. Deadpool is a lunatic at the center of a movie. To drop a lunatic into a very sane world, it’s straight butter. It’s going to be really fun.

Whichever way the movie goes, we know that Reese and Wernick have got their work cut out for them.

Here's another sure thing for what Deadpool 3 has in store for us, though: Kevin Feige confirmed that the threequel for the Merc with the Mouth will indeed be set in the MCU.

This would then collide the world between the MCU and X-Men, and you might want to sit back to understand how Marvel's Multiverse will work once this movie releases.
