Suicide Squad Director David Ayer Confirms He Shared The Film's Director's Cut To A Fan

DC’s Suicide Squad was released back in 2016, only to receive overwhelmingly negative reviews from both critics and fans. It is no surprise that Suicide Squad Director David Ayer separated himself from the film, claiming that Warner Bros. ruined his original take. Fans, of course, banded together to campaign for Warner Bros. to release the director’s cut of the film. Fan demands for Ayer’s cut increased when Zack Snyder’s cut of 2017’s Justice League release had proven to be more successful than the former.

The film introduced Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Will Smith’s Deadshot, and Jared Leto’s controversial ‘the Joker’. Suicide Squad is a group of ‘dangerous, incarcerated supervillains’ who banded together for a ‘top-secret mission’ to save the world as a condition to gain their temporary freedom. The group consisted of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc, and other inmates who must learn together to accomplish their goals.

In a new tweet, Ayer himself confirms that he’s shown his Suicide Squad Director’s cut to a passionate fan by retweeting the fan’s post with the account name ReleaseTheAyerCut. The fan emphasizes ‘The Cut’ was ‘incredible’, ‘A totally different story’, and ‘has a deeper message.’

However, despite the high demands of DC fans and from the director himself, it seems highly unlikely that Warner Bros. is going to push through with this as they had not spoken about it for some time. This didn’t stop Ayer from promoting the campaign to the fans, though.

While Suicide Squad may have already been released for six years now and Warner Bros. refusing to listen to fan campaigns, it wouldn’t hurt to release Ayer’s director’s cut to satisfy the fans left wanting for more out of the film, and of course, Ayer, who had been seeking to accomplish his goal of showing to the world what his real vision was behind the scenes.
