Throughout Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1, Vecna has been menacing and claiming victims around Hawkins and it was Eddie who was taking the blame for his actions with the townspeople not believing in the supernatural, except Dustin, Max, Lucas, Steve, Robin, Nancy, and Eddie himself who learned of the real villain.

Vecna latches himself to those who are going through problems, preying on them, and killing them in a gruesome manner of cracking their bones and getting their eyes taken out. Even Max almost fell into his hands but she was saved by the others by escaping through playing her favorite song.

In the finale of Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1, Vecna’s real identity was revealed. It turns out he is Henry Creel, son of Victor Creel, who were new residents of Hawkins before the murder of the Creel family happened. Henry developed a liking to the Black Widows in their house and while Victor Creel thought the house was cursed, it was only Henry who was behind everything.

Henry did not like that people present themselves differently outside, being nice when they were really problematic, and he saw that firsthand with his parents. Studying Black Widows, he wanted to be something more, a predator on top of the food chain, and he got the abilities to be telekinetic, starting with animals, then killing his mother and sister. His father survived because of music.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Henry is connected to Eleven. It turns out he was also among the children of papa, Dr. Brenner – the very first, One. To the other children, One is a myth, but it turns out, he was with them all along. Seeing Eleven being bullied because the others were threatened by her progress and strength, he chose to help Eleven.

It was the guy who acted like a guide to Eleven all the time and helped her escape. He revealed to Eleven that he was implanted with a “Soteria,” a tracker which subdues the capacity of a patient. Eleven took it out of him in exchange for his help. He showed Eleven why they are alike – he is One, and everytime he kills another, he only gets stronger.

When Eleven found out what he had done to the whole facility, it angered her and she became a threat to One. With Eleven holding on to her memories, she managed to pin One to the wall and with all her strength, she incarcerated him, opening a rift through time and space: the Mothergate, as Dustin called it.

It turns out One didn’t die there, he went flying through the Upside Down and was struck with lightning, thus, becoming Vecna.

Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 is now streaming on Netflix. Vol. 2 will be released on July 1, 2022.
