Same town, same people, different villain – this is Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1. Six months after the Battle at Starcourt and the Hawkins gang is facing a much sinister creature from the Upside Down and this time, it is nothing like they have ever seen. They call him Vecna and what is his curse in the latest installment of the series?
What is Vecna's Curse in Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1? How Does It Work?
The Hawkins gang are back to business in Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 with a new evil terrifying the town after a series of gruesome murders happened with their schoolmates being targeted.
It’s Eddie, the leader of the Hellfire club who’s suspected to be behind the deaths but Max, Dustin, Lucas, Nancy, Steve, and Robin found out it is something from the Upside Down – like the villain in the Dungeons & Dragons game.
They call him, Vecna, like a sorcerer who uses spells on his victims. It turns out Max is one of those in line and it is a close call for her but what is the curse that they deduced from the murders?
They find out a pattern: Vecna’s curse is on those who are struggling with something in their lives. For example, Chrissy is going through problems, going to the school counselor and buying some drugs from Eddie. There’s Fred who got involved in an accident whose guilt eats him up from the inside. For Max, it’s Billy’s death.

Vecna targets those who are in deep waters, making them vulnerable, easy targets. As to how Dustin would put it, Vecna puts his victims under a curse where they see visions of a clock, get headaches, wake up with nightmares. Vecna connects to his victims before consuming them in such a sinister way that all their bones crack and they die a gruesome death, with eyes exploding.
Later in the series, it was revealed who Vecna is and why it is only Eleven who can defeat him. After all, she already defeated him once but the cost is opening a rift between worlds, what the Hawkins gang call “the Mothergate.”
Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 is now streaming on Netflix. Vol. 2 will be released on July 1, 2022.
