Stranger Things Season 4 is finally coming this year after one of the longest waits in Netflix history. Season 3 premiered in July 2019, and as of February 2022, Season 4 of one of the streamer's biggest shows, still hasn't been released.

Netflix already released various teasers for Stranger Things Season 4 (including the one shown below), but fans are wondering if the new episodes will arrive this month.

Yes! Netflix already released its list of films and TV shows coming to its streaming platform in May 2022, and the good news is that the first part of Stranger Things Season 4 is included.

You can also check out new footage from the new season in Netflix's May 2022 video:

It's likely that the show is still going through post-production work because of the huge amount of special effects that they need to add. However, we've already seen some footage in the teasers for Season 4, so it shouldn't take that long for Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, Max, Dustin, and the rest of the party to return to our TV screens.

However, you won't have to wait for long as the two parts of Season 4 will be released on Netflix in a few months.

Stranger Things Season 4

On Stranger Things Day 2021 (Nov. 6), Netflix officially announced that Season 4 would be coming in Summer 2022.

On Feb. 17, the official website of Netflix announced that Stranger Things Season 4 will be split into two volumes, with the first releasing on May 27, and Volume 2 will be released five weeks later, on July 1. The first volume will be released on the same date as Disney+'s Star Wars: Obi-Wan series, and fans are conflicted on which show they would watch first.

The announcement was accompanied by a letter from The Duffer Brothers, the creators of Stranger Things. They also explained that Season 4 has a runtime of almost double the previous seasons, and that Stranger Things will conclude with Season 5.

"With nine scripts, over eight-hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one," said The Duffer Brothers in a statement.

"It's also the beginning of the end," they added. "Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but -- as you'll soon see for yourselves -- we are now hurtling towards our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; Season 5 will be the last."
