During the investigation of the death of Chrissy Cunningham, Nancy Wheeler found out a possible suspect other than Eddie Munson who everyone thought was the killer. Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 introduced another character by the name of Victor Creel in connection to the murders happening around Hawkins. Who is he and why is he important in the narrative?
Who is Victor Creel in Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 and Why is He the Most Significant Victim of Vecna?
In Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 Episode 2, when Nancy went to investigate about the death of their schoolmate, Chrissy Cunningham, she got a chance to talk to Eddie Munson’s uncle, Wayne Munson, and he mentioned that the murder is not the doing of Eddie but of a real boogeyman who predates back in the late 50s – Victor Creel.
Wayne Munson explained that the death of Chrissy is similar to what Victor Creel did to his family and he was taken by the law for the gruesome murders. Forward to Episode 4, Nancy and Robin pretended to be psych students preparing for their thesis just so they would get a chance to talk personally to Victor Creel at the Pennhurst Asylum.
Upon meeting Victor Creel, they saw him with eyes torn out and he told his story to them on how they wanted a fresh start in life when they moved to Hawkins. At first, they found it a quiet place to live but after a month, sinister things happened to them like Black Widows coming out of the tub and one fateful night, it all happened – his wife levitated and bones crushed, followed by his daughter.

His son, Henry, was on the ground, bleeding, and he was comatosed before dying. He was sent to the asylum where he tried to join his family but couldn’t. He was left to rot there. Their conversation was interrupted when the staff of Pennhurst found out that Robin and Nancy were not really students working on their thesis.
Later in the Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1, it was revealed why Victor Creel is one of the most significant victims of Vecna – he is the father of Vecna, who turned out to be Henry.
