When Netflix unveiled its whole roster for 2023, everyone got a tease on one of the highly anticipated films arriving this year with Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon, and an executive of the streaming platform just confirmed that there will be more movies for the title, something to look forward to.
Netflix has a ton of titles coming up this year that even though they cancelled some fan-favorites, their roster for 2023 remains promising with new shows and movies coming up; one of which is Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon, a sci-fi epic film.
In an interview with Variety, Netflix executive Ori Marmur confirmed that there will be more than one movie for Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon, "With Rebel Moon he wanted to push the envelope again. When we saw how big the world he created was, we thought it would be better served as two pieces versus one film. It's the kind of story that can continue to grow."
Marmur even described Rebel Moon as the way Snyder built something similar to a huge franchise, "He thinks of it as his take on making something like Star Wars."
It is no question that Zack Snyder is a Star Wars fan as the director has been very vocal about his love for science fiction and the franchise of the galaxy far, far away.

In the same interview, Marmur added how passionate Snyder is when it comes to his projects, "Zack came in with so much passion," Marmur said. "This is a film that he's had in mind for decades. As you know, he's spent so much time working on other people's IP at other studios."
Marmur took another Zack Snyder project as an example, "We worked with him on Army of the Dead and we did things that others couldn't do. We made a film and then a prequel and launched a live experience."
Rebel Moon is an upcoming movie directed by Zack Snyder which will be set at the edge of the galaxy, focusing on a colony that finds itself in the middle of the threats of the tyrant Regent Balisarius and his armies. A young woman will take on a journey to seek warriors from neighboring planets in hopes of defeating the tyrant.
Rebel Moon boasts a star-studded ensemble with Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Anthony Hopkins, Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, Jena Malone, Fra Fee, Corey Stoll, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman, Cary Elwes, Michael Huisman, Doona Bae, and Staz Nair.
Rebel Moon is slated for an exclusive release on Netflix on December 22, 2023. There are also plans for a limited theatrical release but there is no date yet. Rebel Moon Part 2 still has no schedule.
