Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon Sequel Confirmed to Be in the Works

Zack Snyder is currently in the midst of filming his upcoming Netflix film Rebel Moon, his next feature project for the stream after the success of last year's Army of the Dead. There have been reports that the director is already planning a second part of the film that will shoot back to back with the first one.

Now, it looks like a sequel to Rebel Moon is confirmed to be already in the works thanks to a recent report from Deadline which revealed that the project has been given an estimated $16.6 million tax credits by the California Film Commission's tax credit program alongside other films such as Joker: Folie à Deux and others.

This is essentially a confirmation that Snyder is proceeding with his plan to do a sequel that will shoot back to back with the first one since the project has received tax credits for its production in California. So far, the director has been mum about the details regarding the sequel.

The film is "set in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, then dispatching a young woman (Sofia Boutella) with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand."

Besides Boutella, the cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Ed Skrein, Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, Corey Stoll, Cary Elwes, Michiel Huisman, Rhian Rees, Alfonso Herrera, and Anthony Hopkins.

Snyder is directing and co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead) and Kurt Johnstad (300). He also serves as one of the producers along with his wife Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Eric Newman.
