In Moon Knight Episode 1, the Ennead is teased be when Steven subjected himself to Staying Awake where he seems to be training his mind not to sleep because clearly, he’s having difficulties determining which are dreams and whatnot. What makes his readings interesting is that he looks for something over and over again: Ennead.

Illustrations of Egyptian gods in what seems like a hierarchy in the following order: Osiris, Horus, Isis, Atum, Shu, and Hathor. Others were covered by Steven’s hands considering that there were nine of them. The next text contains, the Ennead described as the “rift between God and man” and below that has the text “The Great Rift: Gods turn away from man.”

In Episode 3, the Ennead council shows up when Khonshu caught their attention by summoning an eclipse. When he finally got an audience, Marc was called to get inside the Great Pyramid of Giza where he first met Yatzil, the Avatar of Hathor. She warns him that the feeling will be strange but he would get used to it.

The Ennead council convenes and all the avatars summon their gods, in attendance were Horus, Isis, Osiris, Tefnut, and Hathor, five gods, enough to reach a quorum. Khonshu accuses Arthur Harrow to summoning Ammit but Harrow says he is but a tourist and he was able to turn the table around against Khonshu.

In the MCU, the Ennead council has some grudge against the people as they felt forgotten, washed away as modernization came in, and they only intervene when necessary. However, for Khonshu, he didn’t stop helping humankind, being a protector with his own avatar.

With Thor: Love and Thunder coming up, the entry of the Egyptian gods could bridge a gap between the movie and the series especially with Gorr the God-Butcher coming in. That just means there are more targets for him and there are more gods Thor and his newest ally, his ex-girlfriend Jane, now the Mighty Thor, to fight for.

Various mythos is getting their MCU exposure with the introduction of the multiverse because in the franchise, the places where these gods came from are usually pocket dimensions that are to be explored more in the future of the MCU.

Moon Knight Episode 3 is now streaming on Disney Plus.
