Moon Knight Episode 1 Ending Explained

Moon Knight Episode 1, The Goldfish Problem, will really get you on your nerves as the MCU unveils its first psychological thriller. See, Steven’s life is really hard, he has to strap himself to the bed every time he sleeps, put tape on the door, even lay sand on the floor to make sure he does not leave the place when sleeping. Beyond that, his life seems to be way beyond normal he is actually suspicious.

He works at a museum’s gift shop, he has no friends, calls his mom every now and then, oh, and his goldfish only has one fin. That is, until, it didn’t. In times of danger, Steven snaps out of what seems to be a trance, only to find out that the danger is there no more. After his experience with the cult of Harrow, he gets followed by a creature who haunts him.

In the end, by the time Steven is about to go home after a long day of work on inventory, he realizes that the creature is there, following him, and he even threw his bag to see what the creature wants from him which is to attack him. Cornered in the bathroom, Steven gets a talk with Marc in the mirror who pleads with him to save them. After that, Moon Knight comes out victorious.

The whole first episode clearly sets up the stage for the struggles of Steven Grant and while yes, his goldfish grew a fin out of nowhere, he has deeper problems to deal with, within himself, to start. He is still clueless as to his other personalities once he regains control of the body, the voice in his head calls him an idiot. How difficult is that? Well, seems like Khonshu prefers Marc over Steven.

As Steven discovers his identities, the reasons behind the attacks on him would also surface. Marc seems to know what they are dealing with. However, the identities are sharing just one body and when one goes dominant, like Steve, he finds it hard to let go and give Marc control, only when in danger would he do so willingly.
