Moon Knight Episode 3: Who is Midnight Man/ Anton Mogart?

The late French actor Gaspard Uliel made his appearance in the MCU on such a saddening note as the star had its lights dimmed when he died earlier this year in a terrible ski accident where he collided with another person at the La Rosière ski resort in Montvalezan, France and after he had his surgery, he did not make it.

In Episode 3, The Friendly Type, Uliel debuted as Anton Mogart whom Layla has dealt with in the past at Madripoor, the same one introduced in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Layla introduces Marc as “Rufino” and that they are there to see Mogart’s collection which includes the sarcophagus. Mogart expresses that his collection is his way of preserving history and that takes responsibility.

When Layla and Marc were allowed to go near the sarcophagus, they were to arrange what seems like a map and given that Marc wouldn’t let to body go and give control to Steven, trouble ensures. Arthur and his people show up to offer Mogart power and to expose that Marc has something to do with the death of Layla’s father. Harrow destroys the sarcophagus.

Marc summons the suit and fought Mogart’s men but in the middle of the battle, Marc fights within as Steven is asking to be in control. The only way to give Marc total control is when Layla was in danger, about to be killed by Mogart. Marc can’t let anything happen to Layla so he took the shot at Mogart, badly injuring him, or possibly dying.

In the comics, Mogart is a well-known thief of priceless artifacts, art, jewels, and relics. The latter assumed the moniker of Midnight Man with his heists done at midnight. He was one of the adversaries of Moon Knight who lived with full of revenge against the hero for his ravaged face and lost artifacts.

Whether the MCU will continue to carry on the story of Midnight Man remains a question after the untimely demise of Gaspard Uliel.

Moon Knight Episode 3 is now streaming on Disney Plus.
