Kevin Feige Addresses Directorial Plans For Black Panther 3 And Avengers: Secret Wars

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is already garnering positive reviews from critics, which could easily explain the fans wanting more content from it. Perhaps a Black Panther 3? Even Tenoch Huerta, who plays Namor in the Black Panther sequel, is already looking forward to a solo movie about his character. Amid rumors of Ryan Coogler possibly (preferably) directing Black Panther 3, and maybe even Avengers: Secret Wars, Kevin Feige decides to address the directorial plans.

Speaking with Variety, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige indicates that he prioritizes the longevity of the Black Panther as a legacy more above anything else, which will continue to be the case, whether or not he or Coogler or any current team members take the lead of it. Check his full quote below:

“I go back to what I said when we decided to make Wakanda Forever after losing Chad. This mythology and this ensemble and these characters deserve to continue and will continue after all of us are gone, I hope, and will continue forever in movies the way it has in comics for 50-plus years.”

As for Avengers: Secret Wars, Feige expresses that as much as he would want Coogler to helm it again, he also admits there’s been no talks about it for now.

“Well, I would want Ryan to do anything at any time because he’s a singular talent and a great person to spend years with. But no, in all honesty, there’ve been no conversations. We’ve not spoken to him about Secret Wars.”

Meanwhile, Coogler’s statement suggests that the director is focused more on appreciating ‘giving his everything’ to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever rather than him seeking another directorial opportunity with an extension of Wakanda. Read his comment below:

“I love making movies, but to quote a character in our movie, I gave this everything. This movie got everything I have. I’m at that place where I think I’ve got this press tour in me and then I’ve got to sit down and reflect. Probably cry a lot, because I’ve been holding that back. And then from there, figure out whatever’s next.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premieres November 11.
