Black Panther 2 Producer Clarifies the Movie's Placement in the MCU

With several MCU projects in Phase Four that are seemingly taking place concurrently in the timeline, some fans have been confused about its exact chronological order. The upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is certainly no exception to that discussion. However, fortunately, it looks like that question has now been clarified.

In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore was asked about where the film exactly takes place in the MCU timeline. While he didn't provide the year, he did reveal where it sits with the other movies in the MCU.

"Oh boy, in terms of years? I couldn’t tell you– I could tell you where it sits in the other movies, because I would try to do it somewhat chronologically. But if you ask me, if you held a gun to my head, honestly I probably would get it wrong," he said.

"Yeah I mean, look if you think about, this movie clearly happens after No Way Home and Eternals. I think it probably happens potentially concurrent with [Thor: Love and Thunder]. New Asgard does exist in our universe, for instance, or in our film. And almost concurrent with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is coming out in February."

Based on Moore's response, it looks like Wakanda Forever is pretty much part of the MCU timeline's present day and it would be interesting to see if they'll acknowledge the other events that happened in Phase Four since they are all happening nearby each other or at the same time.

While there is no definitive answer in terms of its year in the MCU timeline, at least we can estimate that a significant time has happened ever since Avengers: Endgame, especially if we count T'Challa's off-screen death and all the set-ups prior to the main event of the story.
