  1. Sun Breathing: Burning Bones (Sixth Form)

While there are various forms of Hinokami Kagura, the Burning Bones form is one of the strongest, as seen during Tanjiro’s encounter with Daki.

Although Burning Bones looks like the Hinokami Kagura and its other forms, what makes this specific form different is that it uses a strong spiral slash that gives lasting damage to the enemy.

Daki is known to have killed seven Hashiras during her reign in the Entertainment District, but she could not escape the burning sensation from Tanjiro’s attack.

  2. Flame Breathing: Purgatory (Ninth Form)

Purgatory is the most powerful breathing form used by Rengoku, the Flame Hashira. He was seen using this form during the Mugen Train Arc.

The ninth form requires the user to assume a high stance before the attack.

Purgatory is a high-speed dash attack that releases a strong singular hit toward the target. It can even carve out the ground with its impact.

When Rengoku used this form, a flaming dragon enveloped his body as he ran toward his enemy.

  3. Sound Breathing: String Performance (Fifth Form)

During the Entertainment District Arc, former Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui showcased three forms of Sound Breathing.

Out of the three, it was proven (as this specific form was able to overpower Gyutaro, an Upper Moon) that String Performance is the strongest.

The fifth form requires the user to hold the chain of two swords. The user will then rotate the blade at high speed as they launch at their enemy.

The edges provide continual slashes that can weaken the enemy.

This form is strong because it can match the speed of a demon. It is certainly an excellent form to use for an offense.

  4. Water Breathing: Dead Calm (Eleventh Form)

Originally, the Water Breathing Technique only had 10 forms, but Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka created another form called the Dead Calm.

In this form, the user must enter a state of tranquility to cut, block, and even deflect all attacks using their blade.

The form requires high speed to break through various attacks.

If the String Performance is ideal for offense, Dead Calm is perfect for defense.

  5. Thunder Breathing: Thunderclap and Flash (First Form)

The highest form is considered the strongest in most breathing techniques, but that is not the case with Thunder Breathing.

Its first form is the most powerful and hardest to master.

To do this form, the user must unsheathe their katana and dash with immense speed to decapitate the demon.

The goal is to move so fast that the opponent can no longer react.

It has three extensions used and made by Zenitsu throughout the series:

    • Sixfold – In this extension, he performs the Thunderclap and Flash six times while improving each attack's speed and power.
    • Eightfold – In this extension, he performs the Thunderclap and Flash eight times while improving each attack's speed and power.
    • Godspeed – In this extension, he performs the Thunderclap and Flash with the utmost speed and power. Zenitsu’s limit on this attack is only two times, otherwise, his legs will no longer work.
  6. Mist Breathing: Obscuring Clouds (Seventh Form)

Obscuring Clouds is a personal creation of Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira.

The idea for this form is that the user can change the tempo of their movement.

Doing so can disorient their enemy, giving the user more advantages.

Forms of clouds appear to hide the user, and once they appear to the enemy, they can boost their speed for an unexpected attack.

The enemy will think that the user's movement is slow, but it is actually too fast that they will not be able to follow the movements.

  7. Stone Breathing: Arcs of Justice (Fifth Form)

This specific form is considered the most damaging technique out of all the breathing forms available, making it one of the strongest.

It is a combination of two attacks using an axe and a flail.

The axe is set to hit first, followed by the trajectory of the flail from the opposite side to hit the opponent without escape.

The impact is so massive that the surroundings are expected to crumble once this form is used.

With its impact, only the strongest demons can survive a hit from this attack.

  8. Sun Breathing: Fake Rainbow (Eleventh Form)

While some might think Burning Bones is the only Sun Breathing form entry on this list, they are wrong.

There are four entries from this powerful breathing form since all forms are too powerful to ignore.

Fake Rainbow can be troublesome for opponents as it contains a series of high-speed rotations and twists, making it hard for the target to attack.

The movements are so smooth that while the user hits the target, they can also evade attacks. It is also ideal for handling multiple enemies at once.

This form will be used by Tanjiro in the future when he faces another Upper Moon demon.

  9. Sun Breathing: Flame Dance (Twelfth Form)

The Flame Dance takes the second spot as this popular form is another strong form of the Sun Breathing technique.

The Sun Dance looks like a simple attack, but the two-combo strike hits the opponent with a strong vertical slash.

A horizontal slash follows right after, adding an impact to the attack. The unexpected blow will catch the enemy off guard.

  10. Sun Breathing: Thirteenth Form

The most powerful breathing form is the Thirteenth Form of the Sun Breathing technique

This form is so special because it uses all twelve forms of Sun Breathing to incorporate a new level of attack.

The Thirteenth Form is done multiple times as it continues to improve the agility and accuracy of each attack.

This form was specifically made to end Muzan Kibutsuji, as each form of the Sun Breathing technique can hit all of his 12 vital organs.

The attack is so powerful that Tanjiro only used it once in Demon Slayer.
