Strongest and Weakest Love Hashira in Demon Slayer

The world of Demon Slayer is full of incredible fighters, none more notable than the powerful Hashira. However, among Demon Slayer's powerful Hashira, which warriors are the strongest and weakest?

So far, we’ve only seen a small part of the Hashira, but there’s much more to come!

Note: This list is based on knowledge from the manga but is designed to not spoil anything major for anime-only viewers. So, beware of some minor spoilers.

Who are Demon Slayer's Nine Hashira?

The Hashira are the strongest warriors in the Demon Slayer Corps. Each of them is handpicked based on their incredible skill and strength, making them all significantly stronger than any other Demon Slayers.

The Hashira are seen as the Demon Slayer’s strongest weapon against Muzan Kibutsuji and his very strongest demons, the Twelve Moons.

The nine Hashira each look after a particular region of Japan, but can also be sent on various missions when required. They have also each mastered a different Breathing technique, some of which they created themselves to match their strengths.

  1. Shinobu Kochou

The Insect Hashira is certainly one of the most glamorous, but the series shows that in terms of strength, she is the weakest of the elite warriors.

However, her lack of strength doesn’t mean she’s not a lethal combatant. Thanks to her build and self-designed Insect Breathing, she possesses incredible speed and movement, at one point moving so fast she appears to teleport!

As she can’t cut through demons’ heads like other Hashira, she uses a sword laced with poison that she can use to sting her enemies.

  2. Tengen Uzui

The super-flashy Tengen certainly makes his mark in Demon Slayer’s Entertainment District Arc! Despite his lowly position on this list, he is an incredibly gifted fighter, which shows the strength of the Hashira!

Not only is Tengen incredibly strong and fast, but he is also a trained shinobi (ninja), giving him incredible stealth abilities. He can also use his Sound Breathing technique and incredible hearing to deconstruct enemies’ moves in his head.

All of that, combined with his flamboyance, must have made him a nightmare to fight in training!

  3. Mitsuri Kanroji

While she seems cute and innocent at first, don’t underestimate the pure strength of Mitsuri Kanroji. After all, not just anyone can be a Hashira!

Mitsuri has an ‘abnormal muscular constitution’. Despite her slim frame, she actually possesses equal strength to the strongest Hashira.

However, she also has incredible flexibility, allowing her to dodge and counterattack at dangerous speeds.

All of her abilities come together perfectly in her Love Breathing technique, which anime fans can see in Demon Slayer Season 3!

  4. Obanai Iguro

Arguably one of the more plain Hashira, it’s easy to overlook Obanai Iguro. However, do this at your peril.

Iguro, physically, is one of the weaker Hashira. Still, that’s considerably stronger than other Demon Slayers. He also possesses incredible agility and endurance, similar to the other Hashira.

What’s most impressive about Iguro is he is severely hampered. A difficult upbringing is the cause of his weak body, and he is also almost completely blind in one eye.

Despite these obstacles, Iguro is an important part of the Demon Slayer Corps’ elite squad, a testament to his true strength.

  5. Kyojuro Rengoku

The star of the Mugen Train Arc, Kyojuro Rengoku is one of the best and brightest Hashira when they are first introduced, in more ways than one.

Rengoku is an excellent all-around fighter, befitting his place at the center of this list. Perhaps the biggest sign of his strength is the respect that the Upper-Rank Demons that fight him have for his strength, speed and skill.

Rengoku is an excellent example of the Flame Breathing technique, utilising his strength and skill to deliver ferocious blows to his enemies.

  6. Muichiro Tokito

Another unassuming character, the Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito is arguably the most skilled Hashira in Demon Slayer.

Tokito is a child prodigy, achieving the rank of Hashira despite being younger than the other Hashira and even younger than Tanjiro.

His full strengths don’t actually appear until much later in the series, but from the beginning, he is considered one of the very strongest and most skilled swordsmen in the entire Demon Slayer Corps.

Tokito’s unique style, Mist Breathing, utilises his incredible speed and skill to disorient and unsettle enemies before delivering finishing blows in the blink of an eye.

  7. Giyu Tomioka

One of the first Hashira we see in Demon Slayer, Giyu Tomioka is actually also one of the series' very best.

While all the Hashira possess superhuman qualities, Tomioka takes his strength to another level. He can cause snowstorms with a slash of his sword, while even tough demons can appear effortless to him, partly due to his stoic expression.

Later in the story, he proves to be one of the toughest matches for even the strongest of demons.

Giyu Tomioka uses the Water Breathing style and is regarded as one of the best ever at this technique, which shows that he’s got the flow to go with his incredible physical attributes.

  8. Sanemi Shinazugawa

Extremely angry and hot-blooded, the Wind Hashira Sanemi is certainly not someone to mess with.

Shinazugawa is a very experienced Hashira, and comfortably one of the strongest Demon Slayers in the series.

As the series develops, he stands his own in one-on-one fights against the very strongest demons while also taking on the very strongest Demon Slayers in training.

Shinazugawa utilises the Wind Breathing technique, which allows him to have a much larger strike range than many other Hashira.

  9. Gyomei Himejima

There is little doubt that Gyomei Himejima is the strongest Hashira. The Stone Hashira is confirmed to be the strongest by Tanjiro in the manga, and he has the stats the back it up.

Taller and bulkier than any other Hashira, Himejima achieved the rank in just two months, only matched by Tokito.

He has superhuman strength, even compared to other Hashira, while he also uses a different version of Total Concentration Breathing to enhance his senses in battle.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Himejima is that he wields his immense power with incredible sensitivity and a wish for peace for all.

Himejima is a true gentle giant, and the fact that he’s also blind only adds to his incredible mystique.

There is so much for anime viewers still to learn about these amazing fighters. Who knows, maybe there’s someone out there who can one day make it to the top of this list!
