In the world of Demon Slayer, viewers were introduced to different breathing techniques. Some of these are flame, sound, and water. One breathing technique that was introduced in the latter part of the series is the sun breathing technique, that has been altered by the hashiras, and this seems to be related to Tanjiro’s father. Does that mean that Tanjiro’s dad is a sun breather?
Tanjuro Kamado suffered from an illness which explains why he is very fragile and pale. Despite his ailment, he still performed the Kagura ritual dance, which turned out to be a breathing style passed on by the father to his son in every generation.

Was Tanjiro's Dad a Sun Breather?
Since Tanjuro is capable of doing the Hinokami Kagura, despite his condition, it can be said that he is a sun breather. But fans must know that Tanjiro and Nezuko’s father is not a demon slayer. He has the overall abilities to be one but it was never mentioned that he attempted to take part in the Final Selection.
What was interesting is that he has the demon slayer mark, which looks like Tanjiro's scar, as a descendant of the Kamado family. Even if he cannot do the ritual dance, the mark alone makes him a sun-breathing user. He also has the ability to access the Transparent World, which allows him to foresee the next attack of his opponent.
In the manga, it was mentioned that Tanjuro can slay a bear without even wielding his Nichirin sword. His speed is unlike any other which was really unfortunate that he had a tragic disease. In addition to those, Tanjuro has immense endurance and stamina, which could have made him a good demon slayer.
Since the manga is already finished, fans might never know the reason why he did not join the Demon Slayer Corps. He would have been a great addition to the team and might even end up being a hashira too.
It was also unfortunate that Tanjiro did not learn the final part of the dance from his father which could have made him even stronger than he is now.
