We’ve known about the upcoming film for some time now, and finally, the Black Clover movie is reportedly set to release on Netflix and in Japanese cinemas next year.
While there’s no official announcement yet, several reliable anime news pages on Twitter have shared information about the upcoming anime movie, including its title and release date.
The Black Clover movie announcement by various pages did not point out any specific sources.
However, based on some posts, it seems that the film’s details were revealed in leaks of the next Weekly Shonen Jump issue.
Given this, it’s likely that an official announcement will come early next week or after the official release of the next Shonen Jump magazine.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Black Clover is an anime series by Pierrot that’s based on the manga of the same name by Yuki Tabata. It began serialization on Weekly Shonen Jump back in 2015.
Meanwhile, the anime ran from 2017 to 2021 and consisted of 170 episodes.
While the anime had a lot of episodes, it did not cover the whole story. Instead, it stops before the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc.
The series follows Asta and Yuno, two orphans who grew up together after being abandoned in a church.
Both aim to become the “Wizard King” or the strongest mage in the kingdom.
While Yuno is gifted with magical abilities, Asta lacks any magic whatsoever. Yuno trains to become an expert magician because of his powers while Asta trains physically instead.
After some time, the two of them obtain grimoires – a four-leaf clover grimoire for Yuno and an unusual five-leaf clover grimoire for Asta. This grimoire grants Asta anti-magic abilities.
Soon, the two begin their journey to become the next Wizard King.

In the leaks, it was revealed that the movie is entitled Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King.
The leaks also state that the movie will be released on March 31, 2023, in a Roadshow and on Netflix in Japan.
A Roadshow in Japan often refers to a movie’s theatrical release, so this might likely confirm a cinema release for the film.
Meanwhile, the Netflix release might also happen in March given the wording of the leaked announcement.
Right now, there’s no word yet on whether the Black Clover movie will be released on Netflix outside Japan, or if it will get an international theatrical release.
