The hype continues as the upcoming Barbie movie just dropped its very first teaser trailer, showing the vintage look of Margot Robbie as the titular doll directed by the Academy Award-nominated director Greta Gerwig, and it breaks expectations at its finest.

When the announcement of the live-action Barbie movie was announced some months ago, it got everyone excited and hyped about the upcoming film as it will be directed by Academy Award-nominated director Greta Gerwig, and starred by Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken.

The first teaser trailer of Barbie just dropped and it boasts the vintage Barbie look of Margot Robbie in her classic black and white striped swimsuit and iconic 1950s ponytail, similar to the look of the doll she is based on.

It starts with a picturesque montage of the views of some desert with a narration that ever since the first little girl existed, dolls have always been there. It plays Richard Strauss' 'Also sprach Zarathustra' which has been played in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The Barbie trailer proceeds to narrate how the dolls before were always baby dolls, with a clip of children playing some tea time with their baby dolls, that is, until, they woke up and see a statuesque figure with perfectly shaped and flawless legs.

Then, there's Margot Robbie's Barbie, standing in the middle, wearing her classic black and white striped swimsuit, black heels, and black and white shades, hoop earrings, iconic 1950s ponytail hair, and perfectly carved red lips, as she smiles to the kids. Then, the kids started breaking their dolls, one by one.

It cuts to the title of the movie with the classic Barbie font and a montage of the Barbie world with a glimpse of Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ryan Gosling, and Ncuti Gatwa in their quirky suits, ladies in their Barbie pink suits as if in an election, Simu Liu dancing, then Margot Robbie in the dance floor as well.

Barbie also stars Will Ferrell as the CEO of Mattel, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Issa Rae, Hari Nef, Emma Mackey, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, Rhea Perlman, Emerald Fennell, Alexandra Shipp, Scott Evans, Sharon Rooney, Jamie Demetriou, Marisa Abela, Connor Swindells, Ana Cruz Kayne, and Ritu Arya.

Barbie arrives in theaters in July 21, 2023.
