Artist Creates World’s Biggest Pokemon Card Out Of Almost 13,000 Pieces

The Pokémon Company celebrated its 20th anniversary last month. Apparently, the celebration isn't over until they say it's over. To make the anniversary more special, the company has teamed up with U.K. artist Quentin Devine to create the world's biggest Pokémon Trading Card ever.

The huge card made its debut in Paris Monday, with Pokémon Trading Card producer Yuji Kitano and director Atsuhi Nagashima posing with the British artist to mark the occassion.

Devine made a mosaic to create the Pikachu card. The humongous effort took exactly a whopping 12,987 individual cards to finish. The final product measures 10 meters (33 feet) long and seven meters (23 feet) wide. In total, the mosaic measures 71.54 square metres.

Take a look at the massive card below:

Addressing the evet, The Pokemon Company International marketing director, Anthony Cornish, said:

We are incredibly excited to have secured this highly ambitious world record, and are thrilled to have worked with renowned artist Quentin Devine to bring the mosaic to life.

Nintendo also re-released PokémonRed, Blue, and Yellow last month and launched Sun and Moon to mark Pokémon's 20th anniversary.

I don't think anyone could top the magnitude of Devine's card. I wonder who The Pokemon Company will collaborate with next.

Devine is an artist, animator, and designer who has famously created a Mona Lisa mosaic from fan-made self-portraits, as well as a Queen of Britain mosaic using pennies.
