Pokemon Director Eric Medalle Killed In Freak Accident

Sad news for The Pokémon Company International and its fans. The company's creative design director, Eric Medalle, was killed this past weekend during a windstorm in Washington state.

According to Western Washington state outlet King 5 News, the 42-year-old designer died around 1:30 on Sunday afternoon after a tree fell on his SUV as he was out for a drive with his five-year-old daughter. The tree was reportedly a large evergreen. The tree snapped due to fierce winds brought on by the storm.

Medalle's daughter survived the accident with minor injuries. Medalle leaves behind his wife and another young daughter.

Medalle had been working with The Pokémon Company since 2003. He is credited fo several games in the Pokemon series including Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: English & European Graphic Design; Pokemon X and Y: English & European Graphic Design; and Pokemon Black and White Versions 2: English Version Artwork.

A memorial service for Medalle will be held on Thursday. A crowdfunding page has also been set up to help his daughters' college education.

We send our deepest condolences to Medalle's family.
