$356 Million Nintendo Theme Park In The Works

There's a new theme park arriving in 2020 that will delight all Nintendo players.

According to Japanese publication Sankei (h/t The Telegraph), the company is planning to build the world's first Nintendo games-based theme park in Japan with the project estimated to cost over $356 million. The Nintendo theme park, which will be located in Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan, approximately 300 miles from Tokyo, is said to be completed in time for the beginning of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The theme park will reportedly be focused on a Super Mario theme and will feature characters like Luigi, Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, as well as several Pokémon.

When plans for the said theme park was announced by Nintendo and Universal Studios last year, they said:

Nintendo has created remarkable and imaginative worlds filled with captivating stories and beloved characters. Now, for the first time, those stories and characters will be brought to life in entirely new ways.
The immersive experiences will include major attractions at Universal's theme parks and will feature Nintendo's most famous characters and games.

There's no word yet on the exact details of the theme park, but whatever they are, I can only imagine exciting rides for gamers and non-gamers alike. It would be great though if they could include a Mario Kart track or a Pokemon battle arena. Those would be pretty awesome.
