Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 3 Episode 7 confirmed that Hantengu is full of surprises. The latest episode of the Swordsmith Village arc has finally introduced the terrifying Zohakuten and his debut was truly an explosive one.
In Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 7, Tanjiro Kamado tried and failed to behead the tiny Hantengu after a sixth demon mysteriously appeared. The new demon hit a drum and causes a gigantic tree with dragon heads to sprout and attack Tanjiro.
Although Tanjiro is saved by Nezuko, she is injured and needs time to recover. While they study the new demon, Tanjiro realizes that the other four demons have disappeared. Unbeknownst to him, Genya Shinazugawa witnessed how Sekido forcefully absorbed the three other demons to become Zohakuten.
For now, we only got a preview of what Zohakuten is capable of but the demon certainly made a menacing debut in Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 7. After all, the soundtrack for the demon was paired with the amazing voice of Koichi Yamadera who admitted he had wanted to be part of the anime.
"I watched it all the time so I was really happy to be able to play Zohakuten," Yamadera said (via Twitter). The voice actor also confessed he was concerned about the role but chose to do his best.
"I was worried if I could play Zohakuten without feeling strange but I did my best anyway," Yamadera added.
Koichi Yamadera is known for playing Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop, Beerus in Dragon Ball, Silva Zoldyk in Hunter x Hunter, and Gentle Criminal in My Hero Academia. His most recent role was as Quilge Opie in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.
But will Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya manage to defeat Zohakuten and finally kill an Upper Rank demon? The truth could finally be revealed next week.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 3 Episode 7 is titled Awful Villain ("Gokuakunin") and is now streaming on Crunchyroll.
