Over the years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe holds a vast selection of stars who play the roles over the span of years within the franchise.

Why Is Jonathan Majors Arrested?

Jonathan Majors recently got his introduction as Kang the Conqueror and the many variants of his character in the MCU in February 2023 on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and his role is being set up to become the new big bad of the whole Multiverse Saga.

However, on March 25, 2023, actor Jonathan Majors was arrested in New York near the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan after a 30-year-old woman, who was claimed to be the girlfriend of the actor as per TMZ, charged the star for assault, harassment, and strangulation.

The woman had minor injuries including a cut behind her ear, and marks on her face.

She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared to be in stable condition while Majors was arrested on the spot.

Jonathan Majors was released afterwards, without bail, but he has charges on misdemeanor assault, aggravated harassment, and attempted assault and harassment from the prosecutors, and he is reportedly due to go to court in May.

Reportedly, as per ABC7, Majors was the first to call 911 before his alleged girlfriend called the cops.

The representative of Jonathan Majors told Associated Press, "He has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up."

Will The MCU Replace Jonathan Majors As Kang After Actor's Arrest?

While the arrest and the charges filed against Jonathan Majors has nothing to do with his role as Kang the Conqueror in the MCU, the question still remains whether he would be replaced after what just happened.

Over the years, word is that the actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have on their contracts an expectation to adhere to the image of Disney where they should avoid controversies, and participate in acts of charity or advocacies.

Given this, the actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are expected to act like heroes in real life, too. Even when they are cast as villains, they should still uphold the same adherence to the image of Disney.

Following the controversy surrounding Jonathan Majors with the alleged domestic altercation with a 30-year-old woman, the act alone or the allegation alone does not adhere to the Disney image expected of him.

Whether this clause is in the contract of Majors remains undetermined.

Insider reports from The Den of Nerds indicate that the time of Jonathan Majors with the MCU would be cut short but with the silence of the studios involved whether Majors would be replaced, nothing is 100% proven.

As per Deadline, Jonathan Majors has recently been dropped by his long-time talent manager Entertainment 360 and PR team Lede Company.

In the same report, Disney and Marvel Studios are still silent on the issue regarding Majors' arrest having "zero conversations" about it.

According to a new report from The Cosmic Circus, however, it seems that MCU is making some changes real soon on who will be Kang the Conqueror following the delay of the release of Loki Season 2.

Jonathan Majors is expected to play a part in Loki Season 2 as Victor Timely as teased in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania but with the new reports, this could change any time.

For now, Jonathan Majors is still Kang the Conqueror in the MCU franchise, including Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

(This article will be updated once Disney or Marvel releases a statement.)

Jonathan Majors remains as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
