Ever since he started making movies in 1985, Keanu Reeves has never played the role of a Marvel superhero. Yes, he has played paranormal detective John Constantine in the 2005 film, Constantine. But Constantine isn't your regular superhero. And as he prepares for his return in the much-awaited sequel, fans can't help but ask the star if there is a superhero role he would have wanted to play.

So who is it? And why didn't Reeves land that role?

While promoting his upcoming film, John Wick: Chapter 4, Reeves hosted an AMA on Reedit. In one of the questions, Reeves was asked by a fan:

"Has there ever been a role in your career that you regret turning down?"

Reeves answered:

"…No… but I did always want to play Wolverine."

This answer spawned some imaginary scenes involving upcoming Deadpool 3 stars, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

Some of the best replies are:

"If Deadpool jumps on the multiverse bandwagon, even just as a meta gag about how overdone it is - I'd LOVE to see an alternate universe wolverine cameo played by Keanu
Alternatively - would also live to see Keanu playing an obsessed fan who wants to be like wolverine but has no actual powers.. And just dresses up in a DIY suit matching the old comics while following him around being generally annoying" - Caityface91

"A scene of Deadpool explaining to the Wolverines that they overbooked Wolverine actors so one of them has to go home." - chooxy

"Thay would actually be perfect for an after the credits scene.
It starts out with an audition tape of Keanu playing Wolverine, then Deadpool breaks the forth wall and is having a secret meeting with Keanu about him becoming the next Wolverine when Hugh come in and there's an awkward moment between them all" - Mrwolf925

"Look at Deadpool! There’s always time for a (Keanu) Wolverine" - Leochica1

"Get this man a phone call with Kevin Feige" - Duckman896

We could all agree that seeing Reeves as a possible Wolverine would definitely be worth watching. And while there's no word on having him star in a multiverse variant of Reeves as Wolverine, we'll stick with watching him kill some assassins in John Wick: Chapter 4.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is coming out in theaters on March 24, 2023.
