Dogs have played a vital role in all John Wick movies. So it's no surprise that the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4 movie continues to uphold that tradition.
In a newly released trailer of John Wick: Chapter 4, we see the story of our kick-ass hitman continuing from where it left off in 2019's John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum.
The trailer shows a confrontation between John Wick (played by Keanu Reeves) and Marquis de Gramont (played by Bill Skarsgård) with Wick using a flamethrower at one point.
The trailer also teases us of a brutal knife fight by Rina Sawayama, who plays Akira Shimazu in the film. Plus, we can't wait to see Donnie Yen's portrayal of a blind assassin called Caine. Despite his condition, Caine shows his handy sword fighting.
Caine also narrates a part of the trailer by saying:
"The only way John Wick will ever have freedom and peace is in death."
And get this: Wick gets a surprise help from a dog, who lunges itself at one of Wick's opponents. After the title appears on screen, the dog stares up at Wick with his puppy eyes. We're already curious to learn more about this dog, who is the latest to be added in the franchise.
John Wick Dog
Of course, John Wick's revenge all started in the first movie, when an Italian mafia boss, Santino, invaded his home and kills his Beagle in the process. This Beagle was memorable to Wick since it was his late wife's gift to him. So when Daisy (the Beagle) was killed, Wick made sure to avenge her.
By the end of the film, however, Wick adopts a Pitbull whom he simply calls "Boy."
John Wick: Chapter 2 Dog
By the second and third John Wick movies, Wick had grown to love his Pitbull that he called Bubba. Before heading to Rome for an assignment, Wick decides to leave Bubba with the equitable concierge of The Continental, Charon (played by Lance Reddick).
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum Dog
In the third John Wick movie, Wick doesn't have another dog since his life is currently in danger with having the world's best hitmen after him. Instead, he meets up with an old associate, whom he asks a favor from. The associate, Sofia (played by Halle Berry), has a couple of well-trained Belgian Malinois who are her attack dogs.
The two dogs, called Dazir and Havan, did real stunts in the movie. But it was later revealed that there were actually five Belgian Malinois dogs who did the stunts. You can check out this behind-the-scenes clip of how Halle Berry trained with the dogs for the movie:
John Wick: Chapter 4 Dog
Right now, we don't know much about the new dog that will be featured in John Wick: Chapter 4. We also don't know for sure that he is John Wick's dog. But you can check out the dog giving Wick puppy eyes here.
John Wick: Chapter 4 will be out in theaters on March 24, 2023.
