Which is Stronger: Gorr's All Black Necrosword or Thor's Hammer?

Gorr The God Butcher is set to make his debut as a God-slaying villain in Thor: Love and Thunder. Gorr will be wielding the All Black Necrosword that originally came from Marvel Comics, but is it really stronger than Thor’s mighty hammers Mjolnir and Stormbreaker?

Christian Bale will play Gorr The God Butcher and will antagonize Thor together with his Guardians of The Galaxy crew. Thor is one of the strongest Avengers as he is basically a God and a villain who will go against Thor must have some Godlike attributes in order to defeat him. Gorr can definitely match Thor but not because Gorr also shares a God bloodline, but because he is wielding the All Black Necrosword.

Based on Marvel Comics, Gorr was born on a planet with no name that's on the brink of starvation. He was taught to trust Gods who unfortunately never answered his prayers. Gorr’s family was extinct because of starvation and only one of his children remained, but also apparently died. When he was traveling alone in a desert, Gorr witnessed a battle between a black figure (Knull) and a gold-armored purple-skinned God (Celestial) and the gold-armored God lost and begged him for help while the dark figure’s sword transformed into a mass living of darkness that bonded to him. Gorr then used the weapon, the All Black Necrosword, and killed the gold-armored God. Ever since then, Gorr went on a killing spree hunting Gods from different universes because he despised them, gaining his titular title, God Butcher.

Gorr is a mere mortal with no superhuman abilities but with the All Black Necrosword, he essentially became a God and successfully killed countless Gods across different universes. The Necrosowrd that Gorr wields is undoubtedly one of the strongest weapons in Marvel Comics.

Now, the reason why the All Black Necrosword is a legendary weapon is that the sword originally belongs to Knull, The King in Black. The sword holds the power of the celestials that Gorr and Knull murdered, and it is an extension of Knull’s All-Black power. Whoever wields the sword instantly gains Godlike strength, speed, durability, reflexes, regeneration, matter manipulation, dark-energy manipulation, and has the ability to slay any Gods in the universe.

Thor on the other hand now has two hammers, Mjolnir and Stormbreaker. The two hammers can both conjure lightning and smash foes. But with Thor’s latest hammer Stormbreaker, he also now has the ability to cut his enemies like what he did to Thanos in the events of Avengers: Endgame. The only thing that makes his weapons unique is that only the ‘worthy’ can wield them. And as we learned from Thor: Ragnarok, he doesn’t really need a hammer, he alone has Godlike attributes and his hammers only amplify his abilities.

We can assume that the Necrosword is a blunt weapon and is essentially stronger as it does multiple things that both Mjolnir and Stormbreaker cant do, like matter manipulation and conjuring wings to fly. But in terms of battle, Thor’s advantage is that he doesn’t really need a weapon to combat, while Gorr completely relies on his Necrosword, and without it, he is just a mortal.

We will witness Christian Bales's Gorr The God Butcher and the All Black Necrosword when Thor: Love and Thunder premieres in theaters on July 8, 2022
