Werewolf By Night is based on the Marvel comics of the same name which first appeared in Marvel Spotlight #2 in 1972. There are two bearers of the title Werewolf By Night, Jack Russell and Jake Gomez, but for the Marvel special, it will be Jack Russell's show.

Also known as Jack Russoff, he belongs to a long line of lycanthropy-affected ancestors from Transylvania dating back to 1795 with Grigori Russoff as the first one. A descendant of Grigori, Gregor, got one of the Darkhold scrolls in 1930.

From the Darkhold, lycanthropes, also known as werewolves, their origin comes from a dormant curse that allows their lineage to turn into werewolves during a full moon.

Closely connected to Werewolf By Night is none other than Moon Knight who got his own titular series this year. Will he be appearing in Marvel's special presentation, too?

The trailer also teases some action happening with an arm being cut off, a werewolf attacking people which looks like it has been pulled from the classic The Wolfman, and Man-Thing appears, too! A silhouette seems to stalk Elsa and it may be an evil yet to be introduced by the Marvel special.

There was also Ulysses Bloodstone, Elsa's father, who looks like a zombie, and some TVA members so that hints to its connection to Loki for some possible multiversal mayhem happening especially with the Darkhold involved.
