It has been nearly two years since the movie was released in Japanese cinemas, and finally, the Tokyo Revengers live-action film is now available on Crunchyroll.
This first live-action movie in the popular shonen franchise got a theatrical release in Japan back in July 2021.
Sadly, likely because of COVID restrictions at the time, the film did not get a wide release outside of Japan then.
Finally, fans of the series outside Japan have a legitimate way of watching the movie -- just in time as a sequel is in the works.
Tokyo Revengers: One of Today’s Biggest Shonen Hits
It’s fair to say that Tokyo Revengers is one of the biggest contemporary shonen titles in recent years.
After all, while the manga ended recently, it was the second best-selling title of 2022 in Japan based on volume sales.
Due to the manga’s popularity, the series got a live-action film adaptation. The first movie then proved successful enough to warrant the production of a sequel.
The second live-action movie will adapt the Bloody Halloween arc and will be divided into two parts.

While the movie is popular, the anime by Liden Films is arguably the adaptation that propelled the franchise’s popularity to greater heights.
It’s tough to pin down what exactly made Tokyo Revengers so popular. Though it’s probably accurate to say that the variety of interesting characters is a big reason.
There’s also the fact that delinquents and gangs have always been a common trope in shonen series, even going back to titles like Yu Yu Hakusho.

Tokyo Revengers Live-Action Film Out Now on Crunchyroll
The Tokyo Revengers live-action movie was originally set to release in Japan back in October 2020, though it was delayed a couple of times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finally, the movie got a theatrical release in mid-2021. Despite the franchise’s popularity even outside Japan, no streaming service picked up the film for an international release.
But earlier today, Crunchyroll revealed that the movie is now streaming on its platform with English subtitles.
While it’s available in most parts of the world, the film isn’t available for streaming on Crunchyroll in Asia, Spain, and Latin America.
Once you’ve finished watching the movie, the second live-action film will be released on April 21 and June 30, respectively.
Meanwhile, the anime’s second season is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
