Here's what we currently know about the upcoming Netflix K-drama.

The Trunk Release Date: When is The Trunk Coming Out?

Netflix made the announcement regarding the show yesterday, July 17.

However, as of writing, The Trunk is currently in pre-production status. There have also not been any announced filming dates.

Considering these things, it's possible that The Trunk will be released on Netflix by the second half of 2024.

The Trunk Cast: Who Stars in The Trunk?

Currently, Netflix has only announced the two lead actors who will be starring in The Trunk: Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin.

Gong Yoo is no stranger to the camera. He has graced several K-drama shows and films since 2001. Some of his most famous films and shows include Goblin, Train to Busan, The Silent Sea, Coffee Prince, and many more.

He also made a guest appearance on the first season of Squid Game. It has been announced that he will return in Squid Game Season 2.

In The Trunk, Gong Yoo stars as music producer, Han Jeong Won, who finds himself in a marriage contract.

The other announcement we have regarding the show is that Seo Hyun Jin will be taking the lead role of Noh In Ji, an employee at a matchmaking company.

She has been famous for her roles in K-dramas like Record of Youth, You Are My Spring, Dr. Romantic, and many more.

Hyun Jin started as the main vocalist of M.I.L.K. in 2001. After the girl group disbanded, she pursued a solo career.

The Trunk Crew: Who are the Creative Minds Behind the Scenes?

The Trunk is a Netflix Original series directed by Kim Kyu Tae with a script written by Park Eun Young. Kyu Tae is famous for directing Our Blues. Meanwhile, Eun Young is famous for Hwarang.

Prior to the show, however, The Trunk is actually based on a novel written by Kim Ryeo-ryeong.

In its official announcement, Netflix describes The Trunk's synopsis as:

"#TheTrunk revolves around a marriage arrangement service where clients are matched to their best-suited partners on a one-year contract, and a whirlwind of unexpected events that follow when a mysterious trunk floats ashore."

Another source, Soompi, details the synopsis of the show as:

Trunk follows the lives of Noh In Ji, head of a fixed-term marriage service agency named NM that fixes its clients a marriage life with their dream spouses, and the music producer Han Jung Won. Neither of them agrees with the idea of marriage… even though her career revolves around it, Noh In Ji prefers to stay single, while Han Jung Won firmly believes all marriages are deceit."

Since The Trunk is a Netflix Original K-drama, it will likely get released on Netflix once it becomes available. A release date, however, has not yet been announced.

The Trunk Trailer: Is There A Trailer For The Trunk?

A trailer for The Trunk has not yet been released. Since the show is currently in pre-production status, they have not yet filmed any of the scenes for the show.
