Squid Game Season 2 will see the return of its original cast members – and Gong Yoo is seemingly included on the list.
While Squid Game characters piqued people’s interest with their stories, Gong Yoo also surprised everyone with his appearance.
The 42-year-old actor played the role of the mysterious salesman in the series, and he did most of the job of recruiting the players to join the game.
As he only appeared for a few minutes, fans now wonder whether the Train to Busan actor would join the series once again.
Will Gong Yoo Return in Squid Game Season 2?
On Netflix’s official Twitter account, the streaming giant confirmed the return of the hit series for Season 2.
"It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular series ever,” he said.
Director Hwang Dong Hyuk, who also serves as the writer and producer of the K-drama series, thanked fans all over the globe for their unmatched support. He then revealed that Gi-Hun and the “Front Man” would return.
He also revealed that “the man in the suit with ddakji might be back,” hinting at Gong Yoo’s potential comeback.
Gong Yoo’s Squid Game Character Revealed
Gong Yoo indeed played a huge role in the series as the Hallyu actor’s character was the one who recruited Lee Jung Hae’s Seong Gi Hun and other players.
For what it’s worth, the salesman met the character at a subway station and offered him to play ddakji before asking him to join the Squid Game. He never appeared again until the last episode of the series.
“I know there are a lot of theories going on about the Salesman,” Hwang Dong Hyuk said. “These viewers are definitely more creative than I am.”
Fans will learn more about Gong Yoo’s character once he officially joins Squid Game season 2.
