Queen Elizabeth may be the most influential and powerful woman in the U.K. but details of life behind the palace doors are kept under wraps as much as possible. Her Majesty is not only known for her impressive fashion choices but also for her extremely witty and clever personality.

The mother of Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward is also famous for her temper, something she inherited from both her parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Queen Elizabeth also mastered the art of appearing regal and stately to the public and her advisors.

Queen Elizabeth’s ‘Not Usual’ Eating Habits Revealed

Grand Harrold, during a talk with MyLondon, revealed the way Queen Elizabeth has her steak cooked is rather unusual for a member of the royal family. He said:

“The Queen likes beef well done, she has things well done, which is interesting. I find in the world of aristocracy, things are always kind of medium or rare, but she likes it well done. Most people like it rare or still kind of walking.”

The former royal butler added that the royal family has “a very healthy diet” that is “very traditional, just home-cooked food.” However, their table and food habits are said to be less traditional.

It has been claimed that the use of garlic is banned in the royal household since Queen Elizabeth, reportedly, does not like its taste. Camilla Parker-Bowles, during an appearance in MasterChef Australia, also revealed that it is an absolute “no-no.”

When asked if the garlic ban was due to royal engagements, the Duchess of Cornwall joked:

“You always have to lay off the garlic.”

Darren McGrady, another former chef, revealed to Marie Claire that Queen Elizabeth is partial to fresh fruit out of a plastic box. He stated:

“People always say, ‘Oh, the Queen must eat off gold plates with gold knives and forks.’ Yes, sometimes…but at Balmoral she’d eat fruit from a plastic yellow Tupperware container.”

Queen Elizabeth is said to be sensible when it comes to eating her fruit. However, Her Majesty is allegedly not so well-behaved when munching the crusts off her favorite cucumber and tuna sandwiches.

It was also divulged that Queen Elizabeth has a habit of eating bananas with a knife and fork. The British monarch reportedly slices off the top and bottom of the banana before chopping it into small bite-sized pieces and eating with a fork because she avoids looking “like a monkey.”
