Prince William and Kate Middleton recently appeared in a pre-recorded radio spot where they talked about mental health. After their hosting gig aired, some royal commentators couldn’t help but compare it with Meghan Markle’s Spotify podcast Archetypes.

Prince William, Kate Middleton’s Radio Gig Lacked Substance, According To Royal Commentators

Royally Obsessed commentators Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie described Prince William and Kate Middleton’s radio gig as having a lot of styles but not much substance. They also admitted that they were expecting to hear action steps from the royal couple but didn’t.

“It felt kind of thin to me if I’m being totally honest, I just thought there were very few actionable tips. There was a lot of talk about this mental health toolbox, and the words mental health kept being used, but I always want actionable steps. There was just a lot of flash. It was definitely produced and put together, but it comes back to wanting those next steps. It was a lot of styles, but not a lot of substance,” they said (via Cheat Sheet).

Prince William Reportedly Likened Mental Health To A Toolbox

During their discussion on mental health, Prince William seemingly likened the issue to a toolbox.

“Big family networks and support networks around people are really important, but a lot of people don’t realize what they actually need until it actually comes along. You can be living one life one minute, and something massively changes, and you don’t realize you don’t necessarily have the tools or the experience to be able to tackle that,” he said.

Middleton stressed that there’s no right or wrong when it comes to mental health issues because what may work for one person might not necessarily benefit another individual.

“Different things will work for different people and it’s just sometimes trying, isn’t it, as well,” she said.

Meghan Markle Has Been Doing A Wonderful Job Hosting Archetypes?

But Fiorito and Bowie couldn’t also stop themselves from comparing Prince William and Middleton’s recent radio gig with Markle’s podcast. They said that the Duchess of Sussex set the bar high for all the members of the royal family in this regard.

However, they did not also discount the possibility that Markle has more time on her hands to release carefully crafted episodes on her podcast.

“I think we expect so much too and I hate to compare because I know there’s no real comparison, but with Archetypes, hearing Meghan and how proficient she is at podcasting, it really sets the bar so high for everyone else, for all of the royals. I think she’s done an incredible job with Archetypes but really she has a lot more time and a lot more space for that,” they said (via Express).
